Box gasket in PTFE-impregnated fiberglass is a braided packing for the stuffing box around a shaft or spindle.
The weave is fiberglass impregnated with PTFE plastic, as the name says.
The PTFE impregnation makes the fiberglass weave more slippery so the packing runs more easily against the shaft.
