Industrial caster in a fixed bracket with a solid PP wheel, 60 degrees Shore D

This is an industrial caster in a fixed bracket where the wheel is molded in one piece of polypropylene, PP, with wheel and hub in the same material. That gives a light but stiff design with a broad range of use, from lighter carts to heavier loads. The hardness is 60 degrees Shore D, which makes it a hard wheel but a little less stiff than the hardest PP grades.

Polypropylene is a light and chemical resistant material. The caster gets going without great force, and the hard tread gives a small contact area against the floor and thereby a low rolling resistance, even at high load. That is clearly noticeable on carts that roll long distances or are moved often, where a light and easy rolling wheel saves force at every move. PP takes most cleaning agents, acids and bases in an industrial plant or a lab and barely takes up moisture.

The balance against a softer wheel is worth understanding. A rubber or polyurethane wheel damps shocks, runs more quietly and spares the floor more, but takes fewer chemicals and is heavier. The hard polypropylene wheel rolls easily, carries a lot and takes chemistry, but it passes shocks straight up into the goods and can be loud on concrete. This series is therefore for transport where load, chemical resistance and easy rolling weigh more than a quiet and damped run.

The bearing is a plain bearing. It is a simple and maintenance free solution that takes dirt and wet, which suits cleaning intensive and wet environments well where a ball bearing can take in contamination. The plain bearing gives a somewhat higher rolling resistance than a ball bearing, but it has few moving parts and needs no attention. Despite the simple bearing, the series carries up to 400 kg per wheel, thanks to the stiff, homogeneous polypropylene.

The wheels come in diameters from 60 to 200 mm, a broad span that covers everything from compact equipment carts to heavier transport carts. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where space is tight. The fixed bracket makes the wheel roll straight ahead and gives good directional stability; it is mounted with a top plate and four screw holes for a steady fastening.

Where does it fit? The broad diameter and load capacity span makes the series useful in many places: lighter picking carts at the small end and heavy material and machine carts at the large end. The chemical resistant tread makes it suitable in labs, surface treatment and cleaning environments. Fixed bracket casters often sit as the rear, course stable wheels while swivel casters at the front handle the steering.

Think about the operating environment. Polypropylene is happiest at normal indoor temperature, gets stiffer in the cold and does not take high temperatures as well as nylon. The caster rolls best on a hard and even floor; on an uneven surface a hard tread knocks more than a soft wheel. The high load capacity comes into its own on a firm, level floor.
