Caster in a fixed bracket with PUR tread and PA6 hub, top plate
This is a caster in a fixed bracket with a running surface in cast polyurethane and a hub in PA6, mounted with a top plate. The tread has a hardness of around 98 Shore A, a firm polyurethane that rolls easily and takes wear while being gentler on the floor than a fully hard wheel. That makes the caster a tough everyday choice for transport indoors.
The polyurethane sets the tone. PUR has low rolling resistance even though the tread is firm, so the wheel gets going with little force and keeps rolling evenly. You notice it with many starts and stops, for example on a picking line or in a material cart that is moved all day. The material has high wear strength, resists most oils and greases in a workshop and wears slowly, which gives long life on a hard floor.
Where does PUR land between the extremes? Against a soft rubber tread the polyurethane rolls more easily and carries more, but does not cushion shocks as softly. Against a solid hard nylon wheel PUR is quieter and gentler on the surface, but carries slightly less at the same diameter. You choose the firm PUR tread when you want low rolling friction, long life and reasonable consideration for floor and noise level at the same time.
The hub is molded in PA6, a light and dimensionally stable nylon that does not rust and handles moisture and mild chemicals. The hub carries the load and holds the PUR tread in place. The series comes with several bearings: plain bearing, ball bearing and double ball bearings. The plain bearing is maintenance-free and handles dirt and wet but rolls with slightly more resistance. The ball bearing gives low friction and even running. The double ball bearings spread the load over two rows of balls and give stable running under heavier load. You choose the bearing according to how heavy and how often the wheel is going to work.
The fixed bracket makes the wheel roll straight ahead without swiveling, which gives firm tracking. The caster is often fitted in pairs at the rear of a cart while the swivel casters steer at the front. Fastening is done with a top plate with four screw holes, a solution that spreads the load evenly and sits firmly even with repeated loading and unloading.
The wheels come in diameters from 100 to 125 mm and carry up to 150 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over floor joints and thresholds and lowers rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where it is tight under the equipment. With this range and the option of double ball bearings, the series suits medium-heavy transport carts and machine underframes where both rolling resistance and stable running count.
Where does it fit? The PUR caster with a top plate sits well under material carts, picking carts, assembly carts and machine underframes that roll on concrete, tile or painted industrial floor. The fixed bracket holds the direction on straight stretches and the PUR tread gives quiet and gentle running while taking daily wear in workshop, warehouse and production.
Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp rooms, and it takes the oils and greases found in a workshop. If the wheel stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can pick up a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials.
