Caster in a fixed bracket with PUR tread and PC hub

This is a caster in a fixed bracket with a running surface in polyurethane and a hub in polycarbonate, a light appliance caster for lighter loads that has to roll straight and quietly. The polyurethane has a hardness of 98 Shore A, which makes the tread fairly firm but still with a core of elasticity. That gives a combination of low rolling resistance and running that is gentler on the floor than plain plastic is. The fixed bracket holds the wheel in one direction and suits equipment that is run along set paths.

Polyurethane at this hardness has low rolling resistance in relation to its elasticity. The tread deforms only a little under load, so the wheel gets going easily while the firm surface rolls well. PUR has good wear resistance and takes most of the oils, greases and mild chemicals found in a workspace, which means the tread lasts a long time without leaving marking behind it. The firm polyurethane surface also gives a clean roll over smooth floors.

Compared with a soft rubber wheel, the PUR wheel rolls more easily and wears more slowly, but cushions less because the tread is firmer. Compared with a fully hard plastic wheel, PUR is kinder to the floor and quieter, while rolling resistance stays low. This wheel therefore sits as a wear-resistant, easy-rolling option for lighter equipment where you want to protect the surface without losing the roll.

The polycarbonate hub is stiff and light and holds its shape well for its weight. It gives the polyurethane tread a stable core without adding unnecessary weight, which suits appliances and smaller carts where low total weight is an advantage. The wheel carries up to 55 kg, a load capacity that covers lighter tables, appliances, racks and smaller transport carts.

The diameters run between 50 and 75 mm. A smaller wheel keeps the overall height down on low appliances, while a larger one rolls more easily over joints and small thresholds. The wheel is mounted with a top plate, a four-hole plate that is screwed to the underframe and gives a firm fastener. That makes the caster easy to screw into place and to replace if the tread wears after long use.

Where does it fit? A PUR wheel with a PC hub in a fixed bracket often sits under appliance carts, instrument tables, lighter serving carts, racks and smaller machines indoors. The light construction and the wear-resistant tread make it a convenient choice where the equipment is moved often but does not weigh much. The fixed bracket gives stable travel straight ahead, preferably combined with swiveling casters at the other end.

Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp rooms, and the tread resists the most common oils and greases. The lighter load capacity means the caster should be chosen for light to medium-heavy equipment, not for heavy load carts. If the wheel stands still for a long time under load, the tread can pick up a small temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while.
