Threaded caps SP41 are protective caps in HDPE with a built-in O-ring that seals against the mating face when the cap is tightened. Where a plain protective cap keeps dirt and knocks away, SP41 also gives a seal against moisture, oil and dust; that makes the series the right choice when the threaded stud or the port sits in an environment that gets hosed down, splashed or exposed to condensation.

The range covers 16 thread sizes from M8 to M45. The caps are hexagonal, so they are tightened and loosened with an ordinary wrench or socket instead of by hand; heights run between 13 and 19 mm depending on size. The color is matte yellow, a signal color that shows up clearly during inspection and makes it hard to forget a cap at final assembly. You pick the thread size as a variant on the product page.

The choice of material sets SP41 apart from softer protective caps. HDPE is stiffer and holds its shape better than LDPE, which gives a cap that takes tool tightening without deforming and that keeps the O-ring compressed over time. Chemically, HDPE stands up to oils, greases, cleaning agents and most of the liquids found around machinery and hydraulics, so the cap lasts even where it gets splashed every day.

The sealing function opens up uses that an ordinary cap cannot handle. Hydraulic and pneumatic parts with external threads can be protected during washing without water finding its way into the system. Threaded studs on gearboxes and pumps stay dry in outdoor storage. Machines that are preserved for transport get their connections closed off against condensation, and parts that are wet finished get the thread masked with a seal rather than only a mechanical cover. Note that the cap is a protective and sealing cap for handling and storage; for connections under system pressure we refer you to the data sheet.

The hex shape pays off at removal too. A cap that has sat out in cold and dirt for six months can be tight, and then it is good to be able to put a wrench on it instead of prying with a screwdriver and risking the thread. The same shape makes tightening repeatable in production; the assembler feels when the O-ring bottoms out.

Choosing between SP40 and SP41 from the same family follows a simple rule of thumb: if you only need mechanical protection against knocks and dirt, the softer and simpler cap is enough, but if you need a seal and a tool grip you go for SP41. Both series fit standard threads without any adaptation, so you work straight from the nominal thread size. Dimensions, wrench sizes and detailed data per size are in the manufacturer's data sheet.

The caps can be reused many times; the O-ring is the part that wears first, so check it when you reuse them in sealing applications.

The yellow color has process value as well. Several of our customers color code their protective parts: yellow for sealed connections that an authorized assembler is meant to open, red for simple transport covers that anyone may take off. A rule like that costs nothing to introduce but cuts the risk of a sealed port standing open for no reason, and it works just as well in your own warehouse as out at the customer. The combination of color and hex shape also makes the caps easy to find in a messy assembly box.
