Twin wheel in a swivel bracket with PUR tread and PP hub, top plate
Here is a swivel twin wheel where two running surfaces in polyurethane sit side by side on a hub in polypropylene. The twin design spreads the load over two wheels, which gives a wider footing and a calmer run than a single wheel of the same size. The tread is cast polyurethane with a hardness around 98 degrees Shore A, a wear resistant material that rolls easily and holds its shape under load.
Since the tread is relatively hard the rolling resistance is low. The cart gets moving with little force and rolls on easily, which saves both backs and time when the wheel starts and stops often through a working day. At the same time the polyurethane is kinder to the floor than hard plastic and steel; it gives an evener contact with the surface and does not scratch as easily. The material stands up to oil, grease and mild chemicals, which makes it useful in workshops and production.
A comparison helps place the wheel correctly. A softer wheel, for example in rubber or soft polyurethane, runs more quietly and damps shocks better on a rough surface, but takes more force to move and carries less weight. The harder PUR wheel instead prioritizes low rolling force and load capacity. On a smooth indoor floor where the load has to be moved easily this is the choice; on an uneven surface where comfort weighs heaviest a softer tread suits better.
The hub in polypropylene is light and corrosion free, which makes the wheel insensitive to moisture and easy to clean. The bearing is a plain bearing. It is a tough and maintenance free solution that takes dust and wet without binding, and that suits the moderate load the series is made for. The rolling resistance comes out somewhat higher than with a ball bearing, but in exchange the bearing needs no supervision.
The wheels come in diameters from 50 to 75 mm and carry up to 100 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over thresholds and joints and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where the clearance under the cart is low. The twin tread means the wheel stands steady even when the load sits at the upper part of the range.
The bracket swivels through 360 degrees, so the wheel follows through turns and makes the cart turnable in a tight space. Mounting is with a top plate, a square mounting plate with four bolt holes, which gives a stable mount against a flat surface and spreads the forces widely. It suits carts and frames with a standardized plate hole pattern. The wheel comes both with a wheel brake, which locks the wheel, and with a total lock brake, which locks wheel and swivel at the same time.
Where does it earn its keep? This swivel twin wheel with a top plate suits transport carts, material carts, cleaning trolleys and lighter machine bases indoors. The top plate makes it easy to bolt under a flat frame, and the twin tread gives a stable and comfortable run on warehouse and workshop floors.
Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane wants normal indoor temperature and dry to slightly damp spaces. If the wheel is left standing for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary impression that disappears once it has rolled for a while; that comes with elastic materials and does not affect the service life.
