Loose wheel in ReGum with PP hub

This is a loose wheel with a running surface in ReGum, a recycled rubber, and a hub in polypropylene, with a tread hardness of 92 degrees Shore A. It is a good value work wheel for indoor use where you want the quiet and gripping run of rubber without paying for premium materials. The wheel is mounted directly onto its own axle without a bracket.

ReGum is a recycled rubber with a relatively high hardness for a rubber. The tread grips well, runs quietly and takes up shocks better than a hard plastic or PU wheel. That makes the wheel pleasant to roll and gentle on the surface, especially on uneven floors where a stiffer tread would pass on every joint. The rubber tread has a somewhat higher rolling resistance than a hard wheel, but in return a softer and quieter run.

A comparison helps. A hard wheel in plastic or PU rolls more frugally and carries more, but is louder and can scratch sensitive surfaces. A soft premium rubber runs even more quietly and damps more, but costs more and does not necessarily give a higher load capacity in this class. ReGum places itself practically in between: a quiet rubber run and good grip at a lower price, with a load capacity that suits lighter to medium heavy carts. Note that dark rubber can leave marks on light floors, which is worth weighing in on sensitive surfaces.

The hub in polypropylene is light and corrosion free. It keeps the dead weight of the wheel down and is indifferent to moisture and common cleaning agents, which makes the wheel easy to handle and uncomplicated in operation. The plain bearing in the hub is simple and maintenance free; it takes dirt and wet and suits well where the wheel rolls slowly or is moved at intervals rather than in constant motion.

The wheels come in diameters from 145 to 300 mm and handle load capacities up to 150 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over thresholds and joints and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where space is tight. Since the wheel has no bracket it is mounted straight onto its own axle through the hub, which makes it easy to build into a cart or a design of your own.

Where does it fit? A loose ReGum wheel with a PP hub often sits under internal transport carts, roller tables, material carts and simpler equipment in warehouses, workshops and shops. The quiet rubber tread makes it a good choice in settings where the noise level matters, and the low price makes it suitable where you need many wheels. The high grip rubber works well on concrete and tiles and takes unevenness better than a hard wheel.

Think about the operating environment. Rubber is happiest at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp environments. Dark rubber can leave marks on light floors, so on sensitive surfaces a non-marking material can be preferable. The limited load capacity makes the wheel less suited to really heavy loads; there a wheel with a metal hub and a harder tread fits better.
