Industrial caster in a fixed bracket with a solid PA6 C wheel, double ball bearings
This is an industrial caster in a fixed bracket where the whole wheel, both tread and hub, is cast in PA6 C with a hardness of 85 Shore D. It is a powerful work caster for heavy transport on hard and even floors, built to roll straight ahead with little effort even when the cart is fully loaded. The fixed bracket holds the direction of travel and gives a stable base for long straight runs.
PA6 C is cast nylon, a harder and denser version than extruded nylon. The material is very stiff and holds its shape even under high point load, which is exactly what you want in a homogeneous industrial wheel. Since the tread is hard it barely deforms against the floor, the contact area stays small and the rolling resistance low. The wheel gets moving without you having to put in extra force, and it rolls on evenly once it is going. That is clearly noticeable on a heavy pallet truck or a machine underframe that is moved often.
Here the balance is worth understanding. A hard wheel like this gives the lowest rolling resistance and the highest load capacity, but it does not damp and can carry noise and vibration up into the underframe. A softer wheel in rubber or polyurethane lays itself against the floor, runs more quietly and spares the surface, but needs more force to get going and carries less. Choose PA6 C when the load is heavy, the floor hard and even, and you prioritize low rolling force over quiet running. On uneven or sensitive floors a softer option is more suitable.
The hub, which is the same cast PA6 C, is stiff and carries the load without giving way. Inside sit double ball bearings that spread the load over two rows of balls. That gives an even and stable run under heavy load and makes the wheel hold its track better than with a single bearing, while the rolling resistance stays low. PA6 C also takes moisture and most workshop chemicals, and since the wheel is homogeneous there is no tread that can let go from the hub.
The wheels come in diameters from 100 to 300 mm and handle load capacities up to 3000 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints, thresholds and cable ducts and lowers the rolling resistance further, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where the space under the bed is tight. The bracket is mounted with a top plate, a four hole plate that is screwed onto the underframe and gives a steady mounting that takes both pulling and side forces.
Where does it fit? This caster sits under heavy transport carts, traverse and assembly carts, machine underframes and fixed rigs in workshops, warehouses and manufacturing. The fixed bracket is often combined with swivel casters on the same cart; the fixed wheels hold the course while the swivel casters handle maneuvering in tight spaces.
Think about the operating environment. PA6 C works best at normal indoor temperature and on wear resistant floors such as concrete. It does not damp shocks and can mark painted or soft surfaces, so on sensitive floors or uneven ground you would rather choose a softer wheel.
