Loose wheel with a solid wheel in PA6 C
This is a loose wheel cast entirely in PA6 C, a cast nylon that is harder and stronger still than extruded PA6. With a hardness of 85 degrees Shore D and a homogeneous hub in the same material, this is one of the very heaviest wheels in the range. It is built for really heavy loads on hard, level floors.
PA6 C is cast nylon, a material with high internal strength and excellent dimensional stability. The tread is hard and has very low rolling resistance, so even a heavily loaded cart gets going without unreasonable force and then rolls evenly. The hard surface gives low friction and is not pressed together under load, which is what allows the wheel to carry as much as it does. The material takes moisture and most workshop chemicals and wears slowly.
It is precisely the combination of a hard tread and strong cast nylon that lifts the load capacity. The series carries up to 7000 kg per wheel in the heaviest versions, a level a soft rubber or polyurethane wheel never reaches. The price for the high load is that the wheel does not damp shocks or noise and that it can leave marks on sensitive floors. If you want a quieter and gentler run you choose a softer tread, but then the load capacity drops dramatically. For extremely heavy loads there is really no soft alternative; cast nylon is the way forward.
The hub is cast in the same PA6 C as the running surface, which gives a homogeneous, corrosion-free and comparatively light wheel in relation to its carrying capacity. The wheel comes with double ball bearings that spread the high load over two rows of balls and hold a stable, even run even under heavy load. It is a bearing type that belongs in this heavy class, where a single bearing would wear faster.
The wheels come in diameters from 100 up to 300 mm. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling force, which matters all the more when the load is high, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down. Since the wheel has no bracket, it mounts directly on its own heavy axle through the hub, which makes it suitable for building into heavy machine underframes and custom chassis.
Where does it fit? The PA6 C wheel belongs under heavy machines, machine tools, molds, castings and heavy transport goods that have to be moved on concrete or steel floors. It often sits as a running wheel in heavy conveyors and under equipment where the load is high and the floor takes a hard running surface. In heavy industry and workshops this is the workhorse for the very heaviest jobs.
Think about the operating environment. PA6 C works best at normal indoor temperature on a hard, level and clean floor. On uneven or littered ground a hard tread gives less grip, and on sensitive floors a softer running surface should be considered. At really high loads, even load distribution and the right axle size matter for the wheel to carry as intended.
