Industrial caster in a swivel bracket with twin wheel, solid wheel in PA6
This is a swiveling industrial caster with a swivel bracket and two solid wheels in PA6 nylon, built for heavy transport where you need to be able to maneuver in tight spaces. The whole wheel is PA6 with a hardness of 83 degrees Shore D, a stiff and wear-resistant material that carries a lot of weight. The swivel bracket turns 360 degrees, and the twin wheel spreads the load over two running surfaces; together the series handles load capacities up to 1500 kg per unit. The caster can be ordered with a wheel brake.
Hard nylon rolls easily. PA6 has low rolling resistance and low friction, so even a heavy cart starts moving without much force and turns easily on the swivel bracket. The tread is barely squeezed against the floor, which keeps the contact area small and the steering responsive when you turn and position the load. That makes the caster efficient on even, hard floors where the direction changes often, for example during picking, transloading or assembly.
Compared with a soft wheel, the trade-off is clear. A rubber or polyurethane wheel runs more quietly, absorbs shocks and spares the floor, but is squeezed together under load and gives higher rolling resistance, which makes it heavier to turn around under a heavy weight. PA6 goes the other way: it carries more and rolls and swivels more easily, but it is hard and can be noisy and scratch sensitive floors. Here maneuverability and load capacity come before quiet.
The swivel bracket is what makes the caster swiveling. It lets the unit rotate freely so the cart can be turned on the spot and steered around corners and between racks. The optional wheel brake locks the rotation of the wheel so the cart stands still where it was put, which is handy during loading, unloading and work at a fixed position. The bracket is mounted with a top plate, a plate with four screw holes that gives a firm hold against a strong underframe.
Inside each hub sit double ball bearings. Two rows of balls share the load and keep the running even when the wheel carries heavy weight and is turned often. That reduces wear and keeps both the roll and the swivel light over time.
The wheels come in diameters from 150 to 200 mm. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where ceiling height or space under the cart is limited. The diameter is chosen to suit the condition of the floor and the weight of the load.
Where does it fit? PA6 with twin wheel, swivel bracket and brake sits under heavy picking carts, material carts, assembly carts and rolling stands in workshops, warehousing and manufacturing. The swiveling action and the low force needed to turn it make the caster a good choice where heavy loads have to be moved in a small area and the direction changes often. The brake holds the cart in place during work.
Think about the operating environment. PA6 takes moisture and most workshop chemicals and keeps its shape over a wide temperature range. On uneven or delicate floors a hard nylon wheel is not the right choice; there a softer option wins. If the wheel stands still for a long time under load, nylon holds its shape and takes no permanent flat spot, which is an advantage during longer standstills.
