This is a swiveling industrial caster with twin wheel, ElastoGum tread and cast iron hub. The swivel bracket turns through 360 degrees, so the wheel follows through the turns and makes a heavy cart easy to maneuver in tight spaces. A twin wheel means the load rests on two running surfaces side by side; that gives a wider and more stable stance and keeps the cart steady even when you turn with a full load.

The ElastoGum tread is a soft, elastic rubber with a hardness of 75 degrees Shore A. It is built for comfort and quiet. The soft rubber settles against the floor, absorbs shocks and vibration and rolls quietly, which you notice in premises where the noise level matters or where sensitive goods cannot take shaking. The rubber also grips well and keeps its hold on shiny floors.

How does the tread behave in service? A soft rubber like ElastoGum has higher rolling resistance than a hard wheel, because the material is squeezed together a little on every turn and has to rise again. That costs a bit more force at the start and while rolling, but in return you get the damping and floor protection a hard wheel cannot give. Compare it with a wheel in hard polyurethane: it rolls more easily and carries more, but sends the vibration straight up into the cart. So ElastoGum is the choice when soft running and quiet operation weigh more than maximum load capacity.

The cast iron hub gives the wheel stiffness and carries the load without losing its shape, and the series handles load capacities up to 2150 kg per twin wheel. Double ball bearings inside the hub spread the load over two rows of balls and keep the running smooth and light under heavier weight as well.

The wheels come in diameters from 125 to 400 mm. A larger diameter rolls more smoothly over thresholds and joints and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where space is limited. If you need to park the cart, the caster is available with a wheel brake that locks the wheel, with a directional lock that locks the swivel so the wheel only rolls straight ahead, or with a combined wheel brake and directional lock. The directional lock is handy on long straight runs where you want the cart to hold its course.

Where does it fit? ElastoGum with a cast iron hub in a swivel bracket often sits under roll carts, picking carts, hospital and laboratory carts and under equipment that has to be moved quietly through the premises. The soft, damping tread makes it suitable on tile, coated concrete and other floors where both noise and gentle handling matter, and the twin wheel steadies carts that easily become unstable on single wheels.

Think about the operating environment. Rubber is happiest indoors at normal temperature and in dry to slightly damp surroundings. Dark rubber can in some cases leave marking on very light or sensitive floors, so on such surfaces it is worth testing on a hidden area first. The tread is made for comfort rather than for the heaviest loads.
