Industrial caster in a swivel bracket with PUR tread and aluminum hub
This is a swiveling industrial caster with a running surface in cast polyurethane and a hub in aluminum, built for heavy transport that still has to be easy to steer. The tread has a hardness of 93 Shore A, a firm polyurethane that rolls easily and carries heavy loads without wearing on the floor the way a plastic wheel does. The swivel bracket turns 360 degrees and is mounted with a top plate, and the caster comes in three brake versions: directional lock, total lock brake and total lock brake with a nose.
PUR at this hardness gives a low starting force and low rolling resistance. A firm tread is squeezed against the floor only slightly, which means the caster gets going without unnecessary force and keeps rolling with little effort. That shows clearly on heavy carts where every move otherwise takes a lot of muscle. The polyurethane takes oil, grease and mild chemicals and wears slowly, so the tread keeps its shape through long shifts.
It pays to weigh soft against hard. A softer tread would damp more and run more quietly, but lose load capacity and roll more heavily. A hard plastic wheel would roll even more easily and carry more, but make more noise and could scratch the floor. This PUR tread sits in between and gives a combination of good load capacity, low rolling resistance and reasonable regard for the surface, which suits heavy indoor transport.
The aluminum hub is stiff and light at the same time, which keeps the wheel's own weight down without giving up strength. Aluminum also stands up well to corrosion. Inside sit double ball bearings, two rows of balls that spread the load and give a stable, smooth run even under heavy load. It is exactly the bearing choice that keeps the wheel running calmly as the weight goes up.
The dimensions span from 80 up to 250 mm and the load capacity reaches up to 800 kg. A larger diameter rolls more easily over seams, joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where the clearance under the cart is tight. The top plate gives a stable fastening against a cart frame or machine underframe, and the brake choice lets you decide whether the caster should be lockable in direction or locked completely.
Where does it fit? This caster goes under heavy transport carts, crane carts, assembly carts and movable machines in workshops, warehouses and production. The directional lock is practical on long straight runs where the cart is to go straight, the total lock brake locks the cart completely during loading, and the nose version is easy to reach with a foot. The combination of an aluminum hub and firm PUR makes the wheel a durable working caster for heavy daily operation.
Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happiest indoors at normal temperature and in dry to slightly damp environments. If the caster stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials. Apply the brake when the cart is to stand still on a slope.
