Industrial caster in a swivel bracket with ReGum tread and PP hub
This is a swiveling industrial caster with a ReGum tread and a PP hub, mounted in a swivel bracket with a top plate. It is a light and affordable transport caster for everyday indoor use, where you want soft running and good grip without the load being particularly high. The tread is a recycled rubber with a hardness of 92 degrees Shore A, a material that gives quiet, yielding rolling on most level floors.
The rubber tread is soft and grips well, which keeps the caster stable even on a slightly slippery surface. It absorbs shocks and keeps the noise down as the wheel rolls, an advantage in premises where several carts move at the same time. Recycled rubber is an environmentally sensible choice for simpler transport needs; it works well in dry indoor environments and handles the normal strain in a warehouse or a workshop. A dark rubber can leave marks on some light floors, so on genuinely sensitive surfaces a light-colored or non-marking tread is preferable.
A comparison puts the caster in context. A hard plastic or nylon wheel rolls more easily, carries more and leaves no rubber marks, but it is noisy and does not give at all. ReGum trades the high load for softer, quieter running and better grip. Against a cast polyurethane, the polyurethane stands up better to oil and wear and carries more, but the rubber is softer and often cheaper for simpler use.
The hub in PP, that is polypropylene, is light and corrosion-free and keeps both weight and cost down. It carries the load through the center of the wheel and suits the moderate loading the caster is built for. Inside the hub sits a plain bearing, a simple and maintenance-free solution that handles dirt and moisture well; it gives slightly higher rolling resistance than a ball bearing but needs no attention and works fine for this kind of transport. The series takes a load capacity of up to 130 kg per wheel.
The wheels come in diameters from 200 to 250 mm. The fairly large diameter lets the wheel roll easily over joints, thresholds and cable ducts despite the plain bearing, and it gives smooth running on uneven warehouse floors. The swivel bracket turns 360 degrees so the wheel follows through turns, which makes it easy to maneuver the cart in a small space, and the top plate with four screw holes gives a firm mount against frame and underframe.
Where does it fit? ReGum with a PP hub in a swivel bracket often sits under lighter transport carts, cleaning carts, warehouse carts and manual carts in warehouses, retail and light industry. The large diameter and the soft tread make it a comfortable caster to push over longer distances on concrete or asphalt indoor floors. It is a good choice where the load is low but you still want stable, quiet running.
Think about the operating environment. Rubber and PP are happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry environments. A dark rubber can leave marks on light or delicate floors, so check the surface if appearance matters. The plain bearing is untroubled by dust and moisture but gives a little more rolling resistance than a ball bearing, which shows first when the wheel has to get moving under load.
