Swivel caster in ElastoGum with PA6 hub and bolt hole
This is a swiveling caster with a tread in ElastoGum and a hub in PA6, mounted with a bolt hole. It is made for carts that should be easy to steer and at the same time run quietly and gently over the floor. The tread is an elastic rubber with a hardness of 75 degrees Shore A, somewhat firmer than the softest variant in the series, which gives a good balance between comfort and load capacity.
The semi-soft tread is the strength of this wheel. ElastoGum settles against the surface and takes up joints and small unevenness, which damps shocks and keeps the noise down while the floor is spared. At 75 Shore A the tread is somewhat steadier than the really soft one, which means the wheel carries more and rolls a little more easily without losing the quiet ride. The grip is good, so the wheel rolls safely even on a dusty or slightly slippery floor.
What about the starting and rolling resistance? A tread at 75 Shore A is compressed less than a really soft tread, so the wheel gets going more easily and rolls with lower resistance, while it keeps a large part of the damping. Compared with a hard PA6 wheel this one still rolls somewhat more sluggishly, but it runs clearly more quietly and is kinder to the floor. Against a softer rubber tread at 65 Shore A this wheel carries more and rolls more easily, but damps somewhat less. That places the caster in a broad middle ground that suits most carts in daily indoor operation.
The PA6 hub is light and corrosion-free and holds its shape under load. In the hub sits a ball bearing that gives low friction and a smooth, easy ride. The combination of a semi-soft tread and a ball bearing makes the caster easy to swivel and push by hand even when the cart is fully loaded, and the ball bearing helps the wheel roll easily over longer distances.
The caster comes in diameters from 100 to 125 mm and handles load capacities up to 150 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, while the smaller one keeps the overall height down where the clearance under the cart is tight. The caster is mounted with a bolt hole, a through bolt hole that suits places where the cart is prepared for a bolt or a rod. The swivel bracket turns freely 360 degrees and makes the cart easy to maneuver in tight spaces.
Where does it fit? A swivel caster in ElastoGum at 75 Shore A often sits under transport carts, material carts, tool carts and rolling work benches in industry, workshops and warehouses. The quiet, floor-friendly tread makes it a good choice on painted concrete, tile and vinyl flooring, and the higher load capacity makes it suitable even for carts that carry quite a lot.
Think about the operating environment. ElastoGum is happy indoors at normal temperature and in dry to slightly damp premises. If the wheel stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials.
