Swivel caster in TPE with polypropylene hub, 125 mm
This is a swiveling caster with a running surface in TPE and a hub in polypropylene, 125 mm in diameter. It is the larger version in the series, for you who want a wheel that rolls easily over uneven surfaces while still keeping the quiet, non-marking travel that characterizes TPE. The tread has a hardness of 98 degrees Shore A, which is some way up the scale; it is a tough and firm elastomer that sits close to the boundary with the semi-hard materials without losing the damping of rubber.
What does the higher hardness mean in practice? A firmer tread gives less give under load, which makes the wheel roll with lower resistance and steer more precisely. Starting resistance stays low because the tread does not flatten out to any real degree, something you notice clearly on a slightly heavier cart. You lose some of the soft shock absorption that a lower Shore tread gives, but you gain in rolling ease and shape stability. Compare upward with a hard nylon or plastic wheel and those roll a little more easily still and carry more, but they lack the quiet running of rubber and can hit hard against the floor; compare downward with a soft rubber tread and you get more comfort but heavier running. At 98 Shore A this wheel sits close to the hard end while keeping the non-marking, quiet character.
The polypropylene hub is light and free from corrosion and carries the shape of the wheel without adding weight. Inside sits a ball bearing that gives smooth rotation and keeps the rolling resistance down, which you notice when the cart is moved often or rolls longer distances.
The large diameter of 125 mm is the main advantage of the wheel. A larger wheel gets over thresholds, cable ramps and joints more easily and needs less force per meter, which is gentler on both your back and the material. The wheel carries up to 100 kg, which makes four wheels suited to medium-heavy indoor transport. As a swivel caster, the bracket turns freely around its own axis and makes the cart easy to maneuver in curves and tight spots. This version is supplied without a brake, for setups where the cart moves freely or where the brake function sits on another wheel.
Mounting is with a bolt hole, a through hole that fits tubular legs and narrow frames. So where does the wheel fit? 125 mm with a non-marking TPE tread often sits under roller carts in warehousing and production, cleaning carts, material carts, transport racks and rollable machine underframes. The light-colored tread makes it safe on sealed concrete, epoxy floors and tile where black rubber marks are unwanted, and the quiet running suits premises where noise is a problem.
Think about the operating environment. TPE handles normal indoor temperature and works best in dry to slightly damp environments, and the material should not be exposed to high temperatures or prolonged sun. If the wheel stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while, which is expected for elastic materials.
