Furniture caster in a swivel bracket with twin wheel, PUR tread and PA6 hub
This is a swiveling furniture caster built as a twin wheel, with a running surface in polyurethane and a hub in PA6. The design with two wheels side by side spreads the load over a wider area, which gives a steady run and lower ground pressure per wheel. The PUR tread is a cast polyurethane with a hardness around 95 degrees Shore A, that is to say a fairly firm material that takes load and wear but still spares the floor more than plain plastic.
Polyurethane has a low rolling resistance in relation to its wear strength. The caster gets going without you having to put in extra force, and it rolls evenly even when the cart is fully loaded. That shows in surroundings with many starts and stops, for example with serving carts or rolling fittings that are moved often. PUR also takes most of the oils, greases and mild cleaning agents found indoors.
Compared with a softer rubber wheel, what you get here is a harder and more wear-resistant tread. A soft rubber damps more and is quieter on an uneven surface, but it gives higher rolling resistance and takes less load. Against a fully hard plastic wheel, PUR wins on floor friendliness and grip. This caster ends up in the middle: firm enough to roll easily and carry load, soft enough not to scratch lacquered and ground floors.
The PA6 hub is light, corrosion-free and holds its shape well at the load the series is made for. The wheels come with both plain bearing and ball bearing. The plain bearing is simple and maintenance-free and takes dust and damp, while the ball bearing gives lower rolling resistance and a smoother run. The choice comes down to how often the caster is to be rolled and how important easy maneuvering is.
The diameters reach from 75 to 125 mm. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints, thresholds and cable ducts and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where the furniture or the cart is to stand low. The load capacity goes up to 120 kg per wheel, which gives good margin for furniture, carts and rolling fittings.
As a swivel caster the bracket turns freely through 360 degrees, so the unit is easy to steer in tight spaces and around corners. The series has a total lock brake, which locks both the wheel and the swivel motion at the same time. That is practical when the furniture or the cart is to stand still and not slide away, for example at a work bench or on a stationary equipment cart. The mounting is done with a top plate, a square plate with four screw holes that gives a steady fastener against the underframe.
Where does it fit? This is a caster for furniture and rolling fittings indoors where you want both mobility and the option to lock it down. It often sits under serving carts, storage carts, mobile tables, cabinets on wheels and fittings in shops and offices. The firm PUR tread makes it suitable on tile, lacquered wood and ground concrete.
Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp surroundings. If the caster stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while, which is normal for this type of material.
