This is a small ottoman caster in a fixed bracket with a solid wheel in polypropylene. The wheel is molded in one piece, so the whole body is the same hard PP without a separate tread. The hardness sits around 65 degrees Shore D, which gives a stiff and dimensionally stable wheel. It is meant to sit hidden under furniture and upholstered units and lift them just enough that they glide easily during a move or a clean.

Polypropylene has a low friction and a low rolling resistance on even floors. The caster gets going easily and rolls freely despite its small size. The material is light, takes damp and handles most mild cleaning agents without damage, which makes the wheel easy to keep clean. Since there is no soft layer, there is also nothing that can flatten out or dry and crack over time.

A solid PP wheel damps little and can make more noise than a soft wheel when it rolls over unevenness. A rubber or polyurethane wheel is quieter and kinder to delicate floors, but carries less and needs more attention. On even and tough floors such as tile, lacquered wood or hardened concrete the PP wheel rolls easily and for a long time. On glossy or soft surfaces you should pay attention, since a hard wheel can leave marks.

The wheel sits in a fixed bracket and rolls straight ahead without swiveling. That gives a stable motion in one direction, which suits furniture that is mostly to be pushed back and forth. Ottoman casters of this type keep a very low profile and are made to show as little as possible under the furniture. The wheel is supplied without a separate bearing, which keeps the design simple and free from maintenance.

The diameters reach from 27 to 50 mm. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where the furniture is to stand really low. The load capacity goes up to 40 kg per wheel, which is plenty for lighter furniture where four casters share the weight. The mounting is done with a top plate, a small plate with screw holes that is fixed to the underframe of the furniture and gives a steady grip.

Where does it fit? This is a caster for low, light furniture indoors where a discreet and maintenance-free solution matters more than a high load capacity. It often sits under footstools, ottomans, sofa modules, boxes and storage units in homes, shops and public premises. The fixed bracket keeps the furniture on a straight course, and the wide span of diameters lets you choose between a really low profile and a slightly easier run.

Think about the operating environment. Polypropylene handles normal indoor temperature well and takes damp and mild chemicals, but it does not like high temperatures and turns stiffer in the cold. On really glossy or soft floors a hard wheel can leave marks, so a softer alternative can be wiser there. On even, hard-wearing floors the caster does exactly what it should, quietly enough and almost entirely without attention.
