Sheet in PTFE GF20 1500x1500x3 mm natural
The sheet in PTFE GF20 takes the base properties of PTFE and adds 20 percent glass fiber to lift the mechanical values. The result is a sheet that fits where pure PTFE would creep, deform or wear out too fast.
Pure PTFE is one of few materials that handles almost every industrial chemical. Acids, bases, solvents, lubricants: the list of what PTFE does not care about is long. The material is rated V0 for flame, has a continuous service temperature of 260 degrees and works all the way down to minus 200 degrees. Water absorption is close to zero. Density about 2.17 g/cm³.
With 20 percent glass fiber the stiffness rises, creep under load drops markedly and wear resistance against mating surfaces improves. Friction is still low compared with engineering plastics, but somewhat higher than in unmodified PTFE. The glass fiber is more aggressive against certain mating materials, for example soft metal surfaces and stainless parts can take some wear.
The sheet format is used for, among other things:
Slide plates in kiln cars, turning arms and heavy conveying systems where pure PTFE would deform.
Gasket material between flanges in chemical plants.
Backing for press molds and punching tools where low friction and heat resistance meet.
Splice plates and bearing elements in environments with temperature differences and thermal expansion.
Insulation and fire extinguishing parts.
Machining is done in ordinary cutting machines, but the glass fiber is abrasive, so edge wear is higher. Carbide or PCD tools are preferable. The material is not bonded directly; the surface has to be chemically activated if you want adhesion, otherwise the joint is solved mechanically. Sawing and milling work well with a sharp edge and plenty of dust extraction.
The sheets are dimensionally stable at normal temperature, but thermal expansion has to be counted in at installation. PTFE moves more than metal at temperature changes, and the glass fiber reduces but does not eliminate the movement.

The very thin 1500x1500x3 mm sheet in natural suits dimensionally stable shims and thin sliding surfaces over a large area.
