Narrow pallet conveyors also need to stand firmly. This is a leg support in a low version for gravity pallet conveyors in the 500 to 600 mm width segment, that is, conveyors sized for half pallets and narrower special pallets. The support carries the conveyor from the floor, takes the load from the pallets down into the ground and gives the adjustment range needed for the conveyor run to lie straight and with the right fall along its whole length.

The expansion range is 375 to 475 mm, which gives 100 mm of stepless adjustment per support point. You use that adjustment for two things: to compensate for floors that are never as level as the drawing claims, and to lay in the slight fall that makes the pallets roll under their own power in a gravity conveyor. Since each support is set individually you avoid shimming with pieces of sheet metal, and later adjustment can be made even when the conveyor is in place.

Gravity conveyors are popular for one simple reason: they contain nothing that breaks the way motors, drive belts and controls do. No power has to be run, no frequency converter programmed. The leg supports are part of that philosophy; heavy, adjustable parts without moving components that do their job quietly year after year. It also means a gravity conveyor is seldom a wrong investment even with uncertain volumes; the whole run moves along when the layout is redrawn.

A low support height is the right choice when the conveyor is to lie close to the floor: flow through conveyors on the bottom level of pallet racking, dispatch conveyors at a door where a pedestrian stacker lifts the goods off, and buffers under a mezzanine where every centimeter of height is already spoken for. The half pallet format is common in grocery flows and retail distribution, where shop ready pallets are picked and buffered in tight rows, and that is exactly where a low, narrow conveyor with the right fall does a lot of good.

And the capacity? It does not sit in the leg support alone but in the system. The load capacity of a gravity pallet conveyor is always stated at a set support spacing, for example at supports c/c 1.2 m, and the same conveyor takes more with closer supports and less with wider ones. Start from the capacity table in the data sheet of the conveyor when you decide the number of supports per conveyor length, and calculate on the heaviest pallet that actually occurs in the flow. It is cheaper to set one support too many than to straighten a sagging conveyor afterward.

During installation you stand all the supports loosely, lay the conveyor sections on and align the whole run before anything is anchored. Check the fall with a loaded test pallet instead of trusting the spirit level blindly; how easily a pallet rolls depends as much on the condition of the pallet as on the slope. Then anchor to the floor according to the instruction of the manufacturer and do not forget impact protection if the supports end up in or near a forklift aisle. It is worth documenting the final support heights once the conveyor is trimmed in; it helps both fault finding and future extension.

The net weight is 9.26 kg. Hole patterns, detail dimensions and capacity figures are shown in the data sheet and drawings of the manufacturer, which you should have at hand before the floor mounting is planned.

If you need other heights or widths there are leg supports in a tall version as well as models for conveyor widths up to 1200 mm in the same range. Mixing support types in one installation works well, as long as each conveyor section gets its correct support spacing.
