Sheet in SwedBoard Fibre FR 3200x1570x16 mm white
FR stands for flame retardant: it burns slowly and goes out by itself. SwedBoard Fibre in white is a paper based fiberboard with even density all the way through. A white surface color and a white core mean that cut edges, milled corners and drilled holes keep the same look as the face of the sheet.
The sheet is made from compressed paper fibers bonded into a homogeneous body. The weight is low compared with rigid plastic boards of the same thickness, and the stiffness is good for the density of the material. It shows clearly in handling: a SwedBoard Fibre settles still on the workbench and does not move during lighter machining.
The material is meant for indoor use in a controlled climate. Paper fibers take up moisture at high humidity, so long runs that have to stand outdoors or in chilled and frozen environments are better served by a plastic board. Indoors, on the other hand, the fiberboard holds its shape very well and moves minimally with normal temperature shifts.
Areas of use in the workshop and the office:
- Signs and information carriers where the edge has to look clean.
- Models and prototypes that are to be painted or printed.
- Back panels in shelving, display cases and interior details.
- Trade show material where low weight and a flat finish matter.
- Templates and jigs in lighter workshop work.
Machining is done with standard tools. Sawing with a circular saw, milling in a CNC and drilling all work without special tooling. Gluing works well with PVA, contact adhesive and epoxy depending on what the sheet is to sit against. The surface takes print, decals and paint if it is prepared according to the data sheet for the paint. Sharp tools give the cleanest cut, because the fibers are then cut straight through instead of being pulled apart.
Thickness is chosen by span and load. Thin sheets are easy to handle and suit graphic work, while thicker ones give higher stiffness with a longer free edge. White color through the whole material is a practical advantage: you avoid having to paint the edge on a visible installation, and any damage does not show up as a dark line in the surface.
Storage should be flat, stacked or on a pallet, in a dry space. For longer storage it is worth covering the top sheet so that dust and debris do not land on the surface. Machining creates paper dust, so normal workplace extraction and a dust mask for longer runs are recommended.
We cut SwedBoard Fibre to size, deliver in full formats and can put together a quote for larger runs. Do you want to discuss thickness, or do you have questions about how the sheet behaves in your specific case? Send us an email and we will come back with a concrete proposal. This product, SwedBoard Fibre FR 3200x1570x16 mm white, has the format 3200x1570x16 mm, which makes it easy to place into an existing structure. The white version of SwedBoard Fibre FR 3200x1570x16 mm white makes visual sorting easier and suits appearance sensitive environments. Use SwedBoard Fibre FR 3200x1570x16 mm white for prototypes, models, displays and other parts where a light and stiff surface is needed.
