Lever handle HS20 smooth hole 36x86/12x79 mm, fitting in plastic, glossy black
When the lever calls for a proper grip with the whole hand, HS20 is the right size. The grip measures 86 mm in length and a full 36 mm in diameter at the base; it fills the palm and lets you apply force without your fingers giving way. The handle is injection molded in black PA6 with a glossy surface and is mounted by press fit on a plain stud.
The hole has a diameter of 12 mm and a depth of 79 mm. It does not go through, so the end of the lever stays closed without a plug or a visible stud hole. The tapered shape narrows from 36 mm at the mounting toward the top, which gives the hand a natural stop during pulling movements. The dimensions in the product name are read as diameter by length followed by the diameter and depth of the hole; a system that makes it easy to compare sizes within the family.
PA6, nylon 6, combines toughness with high impact strength; a handle that takes a knock from a forklift fork or a falling workpiece does not crack easily. The material stands up to oils, greases, fuels and normal cutting fluids, and the shade is colored all the way through so there is no surface treatment to wear off.
The size makes HS20 a common choice on clamping levers in heavy fixtures, control levers on sheet metal working machines, controls on agricultural and forestry machines and handles on machine hatches that stick. We also see it on test rigs and test benches where levers are loaded hard and often; if the grip handles the environment there, it handles the workshop floor. Everywhere the operator needs to pull for real, quite simply.
The diameter is not only a question of force but of ergonomics. A grip that is too slim forces the fingers to squeeze instead of rest, and that shows in the forearm after a long shift. 36 mm is in the range where the hand can work with an open, relaxed grip; that is why this size turns up so often on heavy levers in particular.
The press fit calls for a stud just over the hole dimension, preferably knurled. The nylon springs during pressing and then squeezes the stud; combined with adhesive intended for nylon it gives extra security on levers exposed to knocks and vibration. Never hit the plastic top directly with a steel hammer during mounting, use a rubber mallet or a wooden block.
The glossy surface is quickly wiped clean of cutting fluid, dust and grease, and it gives the lever the classic look most people associate with machine controls. If you prefer matte there are other designs in the same family.
The moisture uptake of nylon makes the material tougher over time, so the impact resistance goes up rather than down during the life of the product. The handle does not rust, does not conduct current and does not feel ice cold in winter; three practical reasons why plastic has taken over this product category from turned metal.
HS20 with a plain hole is stocked in this dimension. The family also includes HS20 with a threaded steel stud and with a threaded bushing in plastic, plus the sister series HS10 and HS30 in several sizes. The standard pack from the manufacturer holds 250 pieces, which covers both the spare parts store and series production.
A practical detail when replacing a spare part: measure the stud diameter of the old lever with a caliper before you order, and check the length of the stud against the hole depth of 79 mm at the same time. If the old handle is glued on, the stud may need cleaning from adhesive residue for the new press fit to take properly.
