EVA Life Superflex is the softer and more yielding sister to the ordinary Flex grade. The sheet has a density around 0.93 g/cm³ and a cell structure that makes it spring more at the same thickness. Put your hand on the surface and it feels almost like a cushion. That feel is exactly what you want when the end user meets the material with their body, or when a delicate product has to be bedded against knocks and vibration.
The material is approved for food contact and can be used in direct contact with food. That also means the same material suits medical and cosmetic settings where cleanliness counts. The sheet has no smell, does not discolor brightly colored products resting against it, and takes up next to no moisture because the cells are closed.
EVA Life Superflex is used where compliance matters more than stiffness. Typical uses are shock absorbing inserts in transport cases for instruments, orthopedic shims, padded ergonomic grips, soft seals in lids and covers, and shaped cushions in healthcare and rehabilitation. When you need a material that follows a body or an irregular shape without being squeezed away completely, this is often the right choice.
Cold environments are no problem. EVA does not turn brittle in a freezer or outdoors in winter but keeps its elasticity. That separates the material from hard PVC or PA, for example, which lose impact toughness at low temperature. On the other hand you want to avoid long periods above about 60 degrees, where EVA starts to soften further and lose its shape.
Machining is easiest with sharp knives, dies and water jet. The sheet is bonded with EVA-based contact adhesive or PU adhesive, and can be heat welded between layers. CNC milling works but calls for a low feed and a sharp cutter since the material is compliant; a dull cutter pushes it aside instead of cutting. Sanding is possible but easily leaves a fuzzy surface, so punching or cutting gives a cleaner edge.
The sheets come in several thicknesses and can be cut to size. Thin Superflex, down to 2 to 3 mm, works as a shim in windows and panels where a very soft gasket is needed. Thicker versions, 10 to 30 mm, are used for shock absorption, ergonomics and shaped cushions.
Keep in mind that the Superflex grade is deliberately soft. It does not take heavy point loads without a permanent dent and does not work as a structural load-bearing element. That is not the purpose. The material is made to spring and follow, not to carry.
