Sheet in industriell PC 3000x620 mm transparent

This semi-finished part is made in industrial polycarbonate, the unbreakable sheet plastic in pressed and extruded sheets, round rods and tubes. It is the same material as in visors, machine guards and sight glasses, but in thicker sections meant for machining.

The density is 1.2 g/cm³. The yield strength is 71 MPa, the elongation at break above 50 percent and the tensile modulus 2 323 MPa. The flexural strength is 97 MPa, the flexural modulus 2 350 MPa and the ball indentation hardness 110 MPa. The Rockwell hardness is M 75 and Shore D 84.

The impact strength in the unnotched Charpy test is so high that the specimen does not fracture. The notched impact strength sits at 11 kJ/m². The glass transition temperature is 150 °C and Vicat B/50 150 °C. HDT/A 1.8 MPa is 133 °C and HDT/B 0.45 MPa 140 °C.

The maximum service temperature is 120 °C continuous and 135 °C for short periods. The minimum service temperature is minus 60 °C. The thermal expansion is 72 x 10⁻⁶ per kelvin and the thermal conductivity 0.22 W/(m·K). The moisture absorption at 23 °C and 50 percent relative humidity is 0.15 percent, and at saturation in water 0.38 percent.

Industrial PC is machined with lathe, mill and drill into parts that have to take knocks and let you see through them, for example protective hatches, sight glasses, covers and insulator parts. Keep in mind that stress cracking is the most common reason PC breaks for no obvious reason, so avoid internal stresses during machining and assembly.

The sheet measures 3000x620 mm and is transparent, which suits projects where you need a see-through or colored sheet in a set size.
