PE-1000, PE-UHMW, is polyethylene with ultra high molecular weight and the strongest wear argument in the whole PE family. It is the material you pick when the surface has to take sand, gravel and repeated mechanical load. PE-1000 wears considerably slower than both medium molecular weight and high density polyethylene.

The density is 0.93 g/cm³, the tensile modulus 740 MPa and the yield strength 19 MPa. The elongation at break is above 50 percent and the double notched impact strength 170 kJ/m². The abrasion per Sand-Slurry is 100, which is the reference value the whole family is measured against. The dynamic coefficient of friction is 0.15.

The melting point is 134 °C and the maximum service temperature 80 °C continuously, 120 °C for short periods. The material takes temperatures down to -220 °C without cracking. The water absorption is 0.01 percent, the dielectric strength 45 kV/mm and CTI 600 V. The fire rating is UL 94 HB and the building fire class B2 per DIN 4102. Food approval is in place per EU 10/2011 and FDA.

PE-1000 is used as a liner plate in silos, bins and tipper wagons, as a slide plate in conveyors and as a wear surface in buckets. In the food industry it goes into cutting boards, slide blocks and bread conveyors.

Polyethylene is used for tanks, vats, tubes, linings, guards and many other industrial parts. The material can be sawn, drilled, milled and welded with ordinary tools for plastic. The exact properties vary between different grades.

The 2000x1000 mm format in red-white on this PE-1000 TwoTone sheet gives a large workpiece suited to linings, cutting boards and other wear surfaces.
