PE-500 UV is the same medium molecular weight polyethylene as PE-500, but with added UV protection. That lets the sheet be used outdoors without the sun breaking down the surface. The UV protection is added through the whole volume of the material, so even a worn surface keeps the protection.
The density is 0.96 g/cm³, the tensile modulus 1100 MPa and the yield strength 24 MPa. The elongation at yield is 8 percent and the elongation at break 200 percent. The impact strength is so high that the specimen does not break in the unnotched test, and in the notched test the value is 50 kJ/m². The ball indentation hardness is 48 MPa and Shore D 65.
The melting point is 135 °C and the maximum service temperature 80 °C. The material takes temperatures down to -80 °C. The water absorption is 0.01 percent, the linear expansion 1.8 x 10⁻⁴ per kelvin and the surface resistivity above 10¹³ Ohm. The building fire class is B2 per DIN 4102.
PE-500 UV is used for wear surfaces, linings and slide layers outdoors, for example in tipper bodies, ramps and silos with daylight openings.
PE-500 UV is used for wear surfaces, linings and slide layers outdoors, for example in tipper bodies, ramps and silos with daylight openings. The material is machined like ordinary PE-500 but on top of that takes the UV radiation of the sun without yellowing and turning brittle.
This PE-500 UV sheet is 2000x1000 mm in white, a format that suits cutting boards, linings and slide layers where you need a substantial workpiece.
