Sheet in PET FG 1000x1000 mm natural

Sheet in PET FG is the food approved version of the PET sheet. You get the stiffness, the dimensional stability and the hard surface the material is known for, plus certification to EU 10/2011 and FDA for direct food contact. That is the concrete difference from ordinary PET, and the reason it sits in almost every filling and packaging line in Sweden.

The density is 1.39 g/cm³. Continuous operating temperature reaches 115 degrees and the lowest operating temperature is about -20 degrees, so the sheet works across the whole span from freezer and cold rooms to warmer filling. Tensile strength is high, hardness is good and wear resistance stays even over time. Water absorption is 0.5 percent, which means the sheet does not swell with moisture or detergent. That is a decisive difference from PA6, which is otherwise a common alternative in the same situations but where dimensional movement causes trouble in precision parts. The fire rating is HB.

In food production PET FG is used for slide blocks, chain guides, sliders in conveyors, forming parts in filling machines, dosing parts, guide edges and product holders. In the packaging industry the sheet shows up as tracks and hold-downs. The sheet takes standard cleaning with water and almost every detergent approved for food, and it keeps its surface finish between cleaning cycles, which keeps hygiene even over time.

Machining works exactly as with ordinary PET. The sheet is milled, turned and drilled with standard cutting tools and cuts cleanly with a circular saw. Expect continuous chips and a smooth surface. Remember to pre-drill larger holes in several steps and keep the coolant running so heat does not build up in the material. The ground surface turns hard and smooth, which is one of the points of choosing PET FG over softer alternatives when the food is going to slide past thousands of times a day.

The sheet comes in a wide thickness range, from thin sliders to heavy structural parts. The color is typically milky white to cream, so darker than PE-HD but lighter than the dark engineering plastics. Choosing between PET FG, PE-HD and POM C FG, PET FG is often the pick when you need stiffness and a hard surface combined with low water absorption. PE-HD is softer and easier to bend, POM C is a notch better on pure plain bearings but weaker on UV.

The 1000x1000 mm square in natural is enough to mill out guides and slide blocks that sit against the product in a food machine, approved for direct food contact.
