    PI, that is polyimide, is the most heat resistant plastic we sell. This grade has graphite blended in, 15 percent, which lubricates dry and also carries heat away.

    The strongest argument for the black graphite grade is the heat conduction: the graphite carries heat away almost four times as well as unfilled PI. A sliding surface that runs hot therefore gets rid of the heat instead of building it up. The material has no melting point and matches fire rating UL 94 V-0.

    The tensile strength sits at 99 MPa. The weakness is hydrolysis, hot water and steam. Where the sliding surface runs hot and has to get rid of the heat, this grade is in its element.

    This sheet in PI GR15 is 1000x300 mm in black, a format that suits wear plates, sliding surfaces and bearing blanks that are then cut or machined to size.
