The sheet in PTFE GF25 is PTFE fluoroplastic reinforced with 25 percent glass fiber. The higher fill level gives the best dimensional stability in the ordinary GF series, with some effect on the chemical resistance compared with pure PTFE.

PTFE as the base is one of few materials that handles almost every industrial chemical. The flame class is V0, continuous service temperature 260 degrees, and the material keeps its formability down to minus 200 degrees. Water absorption is negligible. The density is around 2.17 g/cm³, the filled material comes out slightly heavier.

With 25 percent glass fiber the stiffness rises considerably compared with both pure PTFE and GF15. Creep under pressure drops markedly, and wear resistance against steel, bronze and other mating surfaces is high. Friction is still low as engineering plastics go, but somewhat higher than in unmodified PTFE. The glass fiber is abrasive against soft mating surfaces, which is worth keeping in mind when choosing material for bearings and sliding pairs.

The sheet format in this fill level is used for, among other things:

Heavily loaded slide plates in kiln cars, slewing rings and swing arms.

Gaskets between flanges where flow under bolt compression is to be kept to a minimum.

Backing in press tools, mold halves and punching equipment.

Bearing elements where temperature, load and chemistry meet.

Components in high temperature insulation.

Machining works in conventional cutting machines, but the glass fiber abrades the edge. Carbide is a minimum, polycrystalline diamond gives even longer runs. Sawing, milling, drilling and turning all work, with sharp tools and good chip evacuation. PTFE is not bonded in the ordinary sense, the surface has to be chemically activated first if you want a glued joint. Mechanical clamped joints and bolted solutions are standard.

The sheet has low thermal conductivity, which makes it suitable as a thermal break between metal components. Remember that thermal expansion is considerably higher than in steel, so long sheets have to be given room to move freely.

The 1000x1000 mm sheet in natural has a quarter glass fiber mixed in and is the stiffest glass version, good for sliding surfaces that have to hold their shape under load.
