PTFE MoS² is PTFE filled with molybdenum disulfide. The additive gives two concrete effects: lower wear and somewhat better dimensional stability under load, while the basic fluoroplastic properties of the material remain.

The sheet format suits you when you need to mill or cut out slide pads, wear strips, shims or special parts from a base material. The thicknesses cover most of it, from thin shims to thick blocks.

The operating range is typical of PTFE: about -200 degrees up to +260 degrees continuously, V0 fire class. The MoS² addition does not affect this noticeably. Chemically, PTFE is among the most inert materials on the market. It withstands acids, bases, solvents, chlorine, fluorine and a long list of organic liquids.

The coefficient of friction is low from the start. MoS² lowers it further in contacts where the material moves continuously against steel or brass. The result is plain bearings and wear surfaces that need no external lubrication, which is valuable in environments where oil and grease are not wanted: food, pharmaceuticals, cleanrooms, dusty industry.

The density is around 2.2 g/cm3. Slightly heavier than pure PTFE. The color is characteristically gray-black, which makes the material easy to identify by eye.

Typical uses for PTFE MoS² in sheet form:

slide pads and support strips in pneumatic and hydraulic actuators

gaskets and sealing rings in chemical processes

wear surfaces in conveyors and pallet handling equipment

electrically insulating backing in high temperature applications

Machinability. The sheets machine well in ordinary workshop machines. Sharp cutters, moderate feed, no coolant needed but it can be used. Bear in mind that MoS² is an abrasive material; the cutting edge wears faster than with pure PTFE. Bonding does not work without surface pretreatment. Clamping and mechanical fasteners are the way to go.

Compared with other filled PTFE grades: MoS² is chosen when the wear surface is the primary function. GR15 and GR25 (glass) are chosen for stiffness and creep under pressure. Carbon filled PTFE is chosen for electrical conduction and high thermal conduction. If you need both low friction and high stiffness, there are combination grades to look at.

We cut the sheets to your dimensions. Standard dimensions are in the range, special formats are arranged when needed.

Do you need help matching pressure, speed and temperature to the right PTFE grade? Send over the conditions and we will come back with a proposal.

Here there is only dry lubricant blended in and no glass fiber, so the 1200x1200 mm sheet in natural gives a softer sliding surface that runs easily without oil.
