    PI, that is polyimide, is the most heat resistant plastic we sell. This grade is built on a high temperature base, HT stands for the high temperature version, and it also has graphite blended in, 15 percent, which lubricates dry.

    This is the driest grade in the catalog and one of the stiffest in tension. The tensile strength sits at 93 MPa. The material has no melting point and matches fire rating UL 94 V-0.

    The price for the stiffness is toughness: the graphite filled grades crack rather than bend. And like all PI it is sensitive to hydrolysis, that is hot water and steam. Where it is dry, hot and the surface has to slide it is in a class of its own.
