T-handles TH10 with a stud are pull handles in polyamide PA6 with an external threaded stud in zinc plated steel; the handle is screwed straight into a threaded hole in a hatch, panel or machine part. The crossbar lies at a right angle to the stud so the pulling force goes straight along the direction of the thread, and through the bar you can also apply decent torque when the handle is used for screwing as well.
Seven versions cover the bar widths 50, 60 and 72 mm with threads from M5 to M10 and stud lengths of 20 or 30 mm. The height lies between 24 and 34 mm depending on size. All versions are black with a matte surface, and you pick the combination directly on the product page where the whole range sits under the same item.
The stud version is the right choice when the thread sits in the material. One common installation is a hatch or panel with a welded in or pressed in threaded nut, where the handle is screwed in and locked; another is a through hole where the stud gets a nut and washer on the back. With a 20 mm stud you handle most sheet and panel thicknesses, and the 30 mm version in M10 takes thicker material or spacers as well.
PA6 in the handle body gives toughness and impact resistance; a handle that is dropped on a concrete floor or gets a kick from a pallet should not crack, and this one does not. The material also feels pleasant to grip in cold premises, unlike metal handles that draw heat out of the hand. The zinc plated stud copes well with a dry indoor environment, but in wash down areas or with chemicals the surface treatment should be checked against the manufacturer's data sheet.
In Swedish workshops and machine builds TH10 with a stud turns up on inspection hatches, sliding guards, pull out drawers in machine frames, positioning tables and hand operated catches. Designers in fittings and retail interiors use the same handle on demountable panels and racks, where the matte black version blends in without looking technically obtrusive.
The bar width is chosen by the grip: 50 mm suits a couple of fingers and small hatches, 60 mm is the middle step, and 72 mm gives room for a firm grip and more force. The thread is matched to the hole that is already in the design, or sized by load if you are drawing something new. As always with threaded plastic parts, the torque should be taken in the thread and not in the plastic; tighten against the contact face and use a lock nut rather than overtighten.
If you instead need a handle that is fitted onto a stud, TH10 is also available with a threaded hole in a brass bushing, with the same widths and shape. The two versions can therefore be mixed in the same machine without it showing. The handles are supplied in packs of 100 to 200 pieces depending on version, and full detail dimensions are in the data sheet.
A couple of words about tightening are in order. Pull the handle up against the contact face by hand and let the lock nut do the locking; the plastic body should not be used as a torque wrench. When dismantling in the field it is the other way around, an advantage that the joint is sized for hand force, because then no tools at all are needed to open the hatch. That property is often the whole reason the designer chose a T-handle in the first place.
