Adjustable feet in the SF10 series are threaded leveling feet with a foot in PA6 and a stud in zinc plated steel. The foot is screwed into the threaded hole of the frame and lets you set the height with millimeter precision; the uneven workshop floor simply stops being a problem.

You recognize the principle from most things that have to stand flat: four threaded feet, one in each corner, and a while with the spirit level. The difference between a good and a bad leveling foot only shows after a couple of years, when the bad one has started to stick, rust or lose its grip on the floor.

The design is simple and proven. A hexagonal base in nylon, 22 mm across the flats, carries a fixed threaded stud in M8 or M10, in the standard design in zinc plated steel. The hexagon is the smartest detail of the series; the foot can be turned and adjusted with an ordinary wrench, even when the frame is in place and you cannot reach to turn the foot by hand. The base is matte and black like the rest of the series.

Nylon is the right material under a frame. PA6 takes high surface pressure without deforming, it does not scratch the floor and it does not rust; an untreated steel foot would have left rust rings on the concrete after the first wet cleaning. The material also damps some of the structure borne noise that otherwise travels from frame to floor. The combination of a plastic foot and a steel thread gives the best of two worlds; strength in the joint itself and gentle contact against the surface.

The series covers 18 versions with M8 and M10 threads and lengths from 20 all the way up to 200 mm. The foot height is low, around 12 mm. The thread length decides your adjustment range, so choose the length by how much the height needs to be able to vary rather than by what happens to be in the drawer. All versions share the same 22 mm hexagonal base, and you can mix lengths in the same frame if the floor slopes one way.

The rule of thumb is simple. Never wind the foot out so far that only a small part of the thread is left in the hole; the further out the foot stands, the greater the lever arm on the thread and the more it is felt in the stability. If you need a really large adjustment range the lengths are there, but consider at the same time whether the structure should be supported in another way.

The uses cover most things that have to stand still: control cabinets, work tables, conveyors, electronics racks, packing tables and store fittings. A common example is packing tables that are moved between stations; the floor is rarely as flat in the new spot, and with adjustable feet the changeover takes a minute instead of the table standing there rocking.

Mounting is in a threaded hole, a welded in nut or a rivet nut in the right thread dimension. Put the frame in place, roughly adjust the feet, check with a spirit level and fine adjust until it stands steady on all four. Lock with a lock nut if the frame is exposed to vibration. If the frame is moved often it is worth marking the setting; the next leveling job then takes half the time.

The zinc plating gives full corrosion protection in dry indoor environments. In wash bays, commercial kitchens and other wet spaces a foot with a stainless fastener is a better choice; look at an articulated machine foot instead in that case. The zinc layer takes the occasional splash, but standing moisture shortens the service life considerably.

The pack size varies through the series; the shorter versions are supplied in 250 to 300 pieces, a volume aimed at series production.
