Fixed bracket and industrial caster with PP hub and ReGum tread, mounted with top plate, 400 kg
Industrial caster in a fixed bracket with ReGum tread and PP hub
This is an industrial caster in a fixed bracket with a running surface in ReGum and a hub in PP. ReGum is a recycled rubber, a soft and elastic material with a hardness of around 92 degrees Shore A, chosen for quiet running and good grip at a lower load. The fixed bracket keeps the wheel on a straight course, so that a cart or an underframe follows a set path without wandering sideways.
Rubber is a soft and yielding material, and it shapes the whole series. The tread settles around small bumps and absorbs shocks, which makes the ride quiet and comfortable and is gentle on both the floor and the goods. The grip is good even on slightly slippery surfaces, an advantage where the wheel needs to hold. The material takes impact well, so the wheel can roll over joints and thresholds without passing the shocks on to the cart.
Soft rubber has its limits, and they are worth knowing. A rubber wheel carries less than a wheel in polyurethane or plastic, and the rolling resistance is higher because the soft material is squeezed together and springs back on every turn. You notice it as a slightly heavier start compared with a hard wheel. If you need to move heavy loads with little force, a harder wheel is the right choice; if you want quiet running, good grip and shock absorption at a moderate load, the rubber tread suits you well. Keep in mind too that black rubber can leave marks on light floors.
The hub in PP is light and keeps the weight of the wheel down, and the plastic is unaffected by moisture. Inside the hub run plain bearings, a simple and maintenance-free solution that handles dirt and wet well. Plain bearings give slightly higher rolling resistance than ball bearings but need no attention, which suits a wheel in this load class. The series handles load capacities up to 130 kg per wheel.
The wheels come in diameters from 200 to 250 mm. The larger diameters roll easily over joints and thresholds and keep the rolling resistance down, which offsets part of the resistance built into the soft tread. The bracket is mounted with a top plate that is bolted to the underframe through four holes.
Where does it fit? ReGum with a PP hub sits under transport carts, picking carts, cleaning carts and equipment that is rolled around in premises where the noise level has to stay down. The quiet running and the good grip make the series suitable in shops, warehouses, workshops and places where you move close to staff during the working day. The fact that the tread is made from recycled rubber is an advantage where material choice counts in procurement.
Think about the operating environment. Rubber is happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp surroundings. On light or sensitive floors you should watch out for the risk of marks from the black rubber. Keep the load within the load capacity, because a soft rubber wheel loses rollability when it is overloaded.
