Fixed bracket with solid PA6 wheel, mounted with top plate, 70 kg
Caster in a fixed bracket with a solid PA6 wheel, top plate
This is a caster in a fixed bracket where the whole wheel body is cast in one piece of PA6, that is both tread and hub in the same nylon. The hardness is around 75 Shore D, which is a really hard surface. A homogeneous plastic wheel like this is made to roll easily and carry load on even, hard floors, and it takes the daily wear in a workshop or a warehouse.
The hard material is the whole point. PA6 has low rolling resistance, so the wheel gets going with little force and keeps rolling by itself. That shows clearly on long corridor stretches and with many moves through a day; a hard tread simply offers less resistance than a soft one. The plastic also has low friction against the axle, takes most oils, greases and mild chemicals and is unaffected by moisture.
There is a downside to know about. A hard wheel passes unevenness straight through, so the run is noisier than with a rubber or polyurethane wheel, and a hard tread can scratch coated or sensitive floors. Compare with a soft elastic wheel, which rolls more quietly and spares the surface but has higher rolling resistance and carries less. You choose the solid PA6 wheel when the floor is hard and even, when you want to roll easily and avoid maintenance, and when quiet is not the most important thing.
Since the wheel is solid, the plastic works both as running surface and as load-bearing body. That gives a simple and tough wheel without a separate tread that can come loose. Both plain bearings and ball bearings are offered here. The plain bearing is maintenance-free and handles dirt and wet, but gives slightly higher rolling resistance. The ball bearing rolls more easily and gives a smoother run, a good choice on carts that are moved often. Which one you choose depends on how heavy and how often the wheel has to work.
The fixed bracket locks the direction so the wheel rolls straight ahead without swiveling. That gives stable tracking, and such wheels often sit in pairs at the back of a cart, with swivel casters at the front for steering. The bracket is fixed with a top plate with four screw holes, a fastener that spreads the load and holds the caster steady even with repeated loading.
The wheels come in diameters from 100 to 125 mm and carry up to 150 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints and thresholds and lowers the rolling resistance further, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where there is little room under the equipment. The range makes the series suitable for medium-heavy transport carts and machine underframes.
Where does it fit? The PA6 wheel sits well under material carts, pallet rack carts, machine bases and equipment that rolls on concrete, tile or painted industrial flooring. The fixed bracket holds the track on straight runs and the hard wheel rolls easily even with a full load. Industries such as engineering, warehousing and production benefit from exactly this combination of low rolling resistance and little upkeep.
Think about the operating environment. PA6 is happiest at normal indoor temperature and in dry to damp premises and is unaffected by wet. The wheel suits less well on soft, uneven or sensitive floors, where an elastic wheel gives better grip and a gentler run.
