The wheels come in diameters from 150 to 250 mm. A larger diameter rolls more easily over thresholds and joints and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where space under the cart is limited. The bracket is mounted with a top plate, four screw holes against a flat underframe, which gives a stable fastener and makes the caster easy to replace. The series is supplied without a brake and is made for straight, towed transport.

Industrial twin wheel caster in a fixed bracket with PUR tread and aluminum hub

This is an industrial caster in a fixed bracket, built as a twin wheel with treads in cast polyurethane, PUR, and hubs in aluminum. The tread has a hardness of 93 degrees Shore A, a firm and hard-wearing polyurethane made for heavy loads on hard floors. The fixed bracket holds the direction and lets the caster roll straight, which makes it the steady pair of casters in a towed rig.

Cast PUR combines high wear strength with low rolling resistance. The hard tread deforms little under load, so the wheel gets going easily and keeps rolling without demanding unnecessary pulling force, even with a heavy cart. At the same time the polyurethane is gentler on the floor than a plain steel or hard plastic wheel and tolerates the oils and greases found in a workshop. Against a soft wheel in rubber or elastomer the difference is clear. The soft wheel damps better and runs more quietly over uneven surfaces, but needs more force to pull and carries less. PUR at this hardness is made for the opposite priority: high carrying capacity, long service life and easy running on an even floor, rather than maximum damping. Compared with a softer, more elastic polyurethane, this tread rolls more easily and takes higher point loads, but gives slightly harder running over joints.

The aluminum hub is stiff and light at the same time. It carries high loads without giving way and weighs less than a cast iron hub, which makes the caster easier to handle when fitting and replacing. Aluminum is also corrosion resistant, an advantage in damp environments or ones that are cleaned regularly. Inside the hub sit double ball bearings that spread the load over two rows of balls and give smooth running under heavy load. The twin wheel construction places two treads side by side and spreads the weight over a wider contact surface, which keeps the rig stable. The series handles load capacities up to 1800 kg per wheel.

Where does it fit? PUR in a fixed bracket with an aluminum hub sits under heavy transport carts, machine underframes, towed trailers and base carts in industry and warehousing where high loads are rolled on a smooth floor with little pulling force. The light, corrosion resistant hub makes it especially suitable where the casters are washed often or stand in a damp environment, for example in food-related production or a workshop with wet cleaning. As the direction-holding pair of casters, it complements swivel casters at the other end.

Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happiest at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp environments. The hard tread gives little risk of a permanent flat spot under a standing load, which is an advantage if the cart is often parked fully loaded. On a very uneven floor the running is bumpier than with a soft wheel, so where the surface has many joints a softer tread may be preferable.
