Industrial caster in a fixed bracket with PUR tread, cast iron hub and double ball bearings
Here is an industrial caster in a fixed bracket with a running surface in polyurethane, a hub in cast iron and double ball bearings. The combination is made for heavy transport that also has to run evenly and stand up to frequent use. The tread is molded PUR with a hardness of 93 degrees Shore A, a hard and wear-resistant polyurethane that holds its shape under pressure and spares the floor considerably more than a wheel in steel or hard plastic.
A fixed bracket means the caster rolls straight and does not swivel. That gives a tracking run on long, straight stretches and stability under heavy carts; the steering is usually handled by swivel casters at the other end. When the load is high, the straight, controlled run is an advantage both for safety and for wear on the floor.
The tread in operation is worth stopping at. Molded PUR has low rolling resistance in relation to its stiffness, so even a heavy cart gets going without unnecessary force and rolls smoothly. What lifts this series is the double ball bearings: two rows of balls spread the load and give an even, stable run even under off-center loads and through many starts and stops in a working day. Against a hard steel wheel, PUR is quieter and gentler on the ground; against a softer rubber wheel, PUR carries more and holds its shape better under heavy load.
The cast iron hub gives stiffness and is the backbone that carries the weight and holds its shape at high load. Together with the double ball bearings it gives a calm run that lasts over time, even when the wheel works hard. The cast iron weighs more than an aluminum hub, but the stiffness is what the high load capacities in the series demand.
The wheels come in diameters from 85 to 400 mm and the series handles load capacities up to 3500 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over joints, thresholds and unevenness and lowers the rolling resistance, which shows clearly at high weight; a smaller one keeps the overall height down where space is limited. The bracket is mounted with a top plate that is screwed to the underframe.
Where does it fit? PUR with a cast iron hub and double ball bearings in a fixed bracket is a durable heavy-load caster for indoor use in industry and warehousing. It sits under heavy transport carts, machine underframes, assembly lines with large parts and material carts that are used often and hard. The hard tread suits concrete, tile and coated industrial floors where both load and an even run matter.
Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp environments. If the caster stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for polyurethane. The double ball bearings are maintenance-free in normal operation and last best in environments without coarse chips and dust that can work their way into the bearing.
