Hollow Bar in PTFE GR15 1000 mm natural

PTFE GR15 is a glass filled PTFE in tubular format, matched to the case where you need the chemical resistance of the fluoropolymer but do not want to see the material flow out under load. Pure PTFE is soft and creeps over time. The glass fiber takes up that load.

Chemically the material handles in principle the whole pH scale. Acids, bases, solvents, oxidants, most of it bounces off. The service range runs from about -200 degrees up to +260 degrees continuously, which few other polymers come close to. Flammability rating V0, no dripping, no smoke to speak of.

The coefficient of friction stays low even with glass reinforcement. It is higher than for pure PTFE, but still in a class where metallic sliding partners rarely need lubrication. A non-stick surface. That means lubricants, adhesives and most process liquids do not stick.

The density lands around 2.15 to 2.2 g/cm3 depending on the filler content. Heavier than pure PTFE, which is worth noting on larger components.

Common uses for tubes in PTFE GR15:

plain bearing sleeves in chemical pumps and valves where load is combined with aggressive media

bushings in belt conveyors that pass through wet chemical baths

insulating sleeves against hot process gases in furnace environments

shims and enclosures around hot pipe runs where chemical residues occur

Machinability is good. PTFE GR15 is turned, milled and drilled with sharp carbide tools. The glass fiber wears the edge, so count on more frequent tool changes than with pure PTFE. The material cannot be bonded conventionally; threads, clamping or etched surfaces are the way forward if you need to join.

When choosing between glass filled and pure PTFE: pick GR15 where the part sits under constant pressure or where dimensional stability over time matters. Pure PTFE is enough when the seal only has to rest against a surface, not carry a load. If you need better lubricating properties for a plain bearing, MoS² filled PTFE is available as an alternative.

The tubes are supplied cut to your dimensions. Standard lengths and dimensions are in the range, and custom cuts and turning blanks are arranged on request.

One last practical note. PTFE has low thermal conductivity, about 0.25 W/mK. It is an insulator, not a heat sink. Factor that in when the part sits close to heat sources that need to carry energy away.

The 1000 mm hollow bar in natural has graphite blended in and is pre-bored, good for rings and bushings that have to run dry.
