PTFE is the material with the best sliding properties and the most extreme chemical resistance in the whole range. Nothing sticks to the surface, and the material stands up to practically all chemicals. The coefficient of friction against steel is only 0.08 in dry running, that is, without lubrication, the lowest of all our plastics. It handles 260 degrees continuously and all the way down to -200 degrees, a temperature range no other plastic in the range manages, and it does not melt until 327 degrees. PTFE does not burn, entirely without flame retardant additives, because the fluorine in the material does the job. The price you pay is low mechanical strength: the tensile strength is only 24 MPa and the material creeps under load, so it is not a load bearing structural material. The density of 2.17 is also high for a plastic.
This product is a hose in PTFE in natural color, supplied by the length. PTFE hose is used where a medium has to be carried through hot or chemically aggressive environments, for example as a protective sleeve around cables or as a line for corrosive liquids and gases. The smooth inside means nothing sticks and the hose is easy to clean. Need a particular length? Request a quote with your exact dimensions and volume.
