Loose wheel with a solid wheel in PA6, hardness 83 Shore D

This is a loose wheel made entirely of PA6, both running surface and hub, in a firmer version with a hardness of 83 degrees Shore D. The extra hardness makes the wheel even stiffer and gives a running surface that resists deformation even under concentrated load. The wheel is built for one specific size, 100 mm diameter, and comes with double ball bearings.

A hard nylon tread like this one has very low rolling resistance. The wheel gets going easily and keeps rolling without binding, which shows clearly in a workplace with many starts and stops. The hard surface gives low friction and holds its round shape under load, so you get an even run without the tread giving way. PA6 handles moisture and most workshop chemicals, and it wears slowly on clean, level floors.

Higher hardness brings harder contact with the floor. This wheel does not damp shocks and noise the way a soft rubber or polyurethane wheel does, and it can leave marks on painted or glossy floors. A softer wheel would have run more quietly and been kinder to the floor, but at the cost of lower load capacity and higher rolling resistance. At 83 Shore D this wheel is meant for anyone who wants maximum stiffness and easy rolling on a hard, level floor, not for sensitive surfaces.

The double ball bearings spread the load over two rows of balls. That gives a steadier run under heavy load than a single ball bearing and keeps the wheel tracking straight even when the cart tilts or the load sits unevenly. The hub is cast in the same PA6 as the tread, which makes the wheel completely free of corrosion and lighter than a metal hub. The whole wheel is homogeneous, which makes both mounting and cleaning simpler.

The diameter is 100 mm and the wheel carries up to 650 kg. A diameter in this class gives a good balance between low overall height and the ability to roll over smaller joints in the floor. Since the wheel has no bracket, it mounts directly on its own axle through the hub, so it fits well built into machines, conveyors or your own underframes where you decide the fastener yourself.

Where does it fit? The hard PA6 wheel belongs under machine underframes, heavy equipment carts and fixed installations where the wheel has to carry a lot on a small area. In workshops and production it often sits as a running wheel in structures that roll back and forth along a set track, or as a support wheel under heavy goods. The level, hard floor is its natural home.

Think about the operating environment. PA6 works best at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp spaces. On dirty or uneven floors a hard tread gives less grip, and on sensitive surfaces you should choose a softer running surface. The material can take up a little moisture over time, but that rarely affects how it works in practice.

Are you unsure whether the hardness of 83 Shore D and the load capacity of 650 kg are enough for your design? Get in touch and we will go through load, axle size and floor together before you choose.
