Loose wheel with a solid wheel in PA6, stainless
This is a loose wheel in PA6 with a stainless ball bearing, built for environments where moisture and cleaning otherwise wear ordinary bearings down. Both running surface and hub are cast in the same nylon with a hardness of around 75 degrees Shore D, and the bearing is a stainless version. The combination gives a wheel that takes water and hosing without rusting.
PA6 is a hard tread material with low rolling resistance. The wheel starts easily and rolls evenly, and the hard surface does not deform under load but keeps its shape. The nylon handles moisture well and stands up to most mild chemicals and cleaning agents, which is exactly what makes the material suitable in wet areas and in premises that are hosed clean. Wear is low on clean, level floors.
The stainless ball bearing is the key to this version. An ordinary steel bearing starts to rust easily in a damp environment and can bind after a while with hosing and cleaning chemicals. The stainless bearing resists corrosion and keeps the easy run going longer under such conditions. The ball bearing itself gives low rolling resistance and an even run; it is a good choice when the wheel does not have to carry the very heaviest loads but still has to roll nicely day after day.
Like all hard wheels, PA6 damps neither noise nor shocks to any great degree, and it can leave marks on sensitive floors. A soft rubber or polyurethane wheel would have run more quietly and more gently, but those stand up less well to constant wet and lose load capacity. Here the priority is resistance to moisture and low rolling force, not shock absorption, and that is why the hard nylon tread with a stainless bearing is a good fit.
The hub is cast in the same PA6 as the tread and does not rust, which makes the whole wheel consistently corrosion resistant together with the stainless bearing. The homogeneous hub is easy to keep clean and takes the same wet as the running surface.
The wheels come in diameters from 100 up to 200 mm and carry up to 500 kg per wheel. A larger diameter rolls more easily over floor joints and floor drains, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down. Since the wheel comes without a bracket, it mounts directly on its own axle through the hub, which makes it easy to build into carts and racks that have to take cleaning.
Where does it fit? The stainless PA6 wheel belongs in food premises, commercial kitchens, slaughterhouses, care environments and other spaces where the floor is hosed down and hygiene matters. It sits under transport carts, racks and equipment that move between cleaning stations. The hard tread takes the daily load and the stainless bearing copes with the moisture.
Think about the operating environment. PA6 works well in damp indoor environments and takes cleaning, but extreme chemicals and very high temperatures lie outside the material's comfort zone. On sensitive floors you should consider a softer running surface, and on really uneven ground the hard tread gives less grip. The material can take up a little moisture over time without any effect on how it works.
