Loose wheel in ElastoGum with aluminum hub, 65 Shore A
This is a loose wheel with a tread in ElastoGum and a hub in aluminum, built for transport where quiet running and gentle treatment of the floor come first. The tread is a soft, elastic rubber with a hardness of 65 degrees Shore A, which is at the softer end. That gives a compliant run where the tread settles against the floor and catches vibration and shocks before they reach the goods.
The soft tread also shapes the feel of the ride. A rubber like this has a somewhat higher rolling resistance than a hard wheel, because the material is squeezed together a little under load and has to work its way forward. In exchange you get quiet running and good grip, and the wheel rolls smoothly over joints, seams and small unevenness without the load shaking. Put it next to a hard plastic wheel, which gets going more easily and rolls with minimal force but makes a racket and can scratch sensitive surfaces, and the difference is clear: this wheel puts calm and floor protection ahead of the last gram of lightness. If you instead need to roll heavy loads over long distances with the least possible effort, a harder wheel is the right one.
The hub in aluminum is stiff and light at the same time. It carries the load without giving way, resists corrosion and keeps the total weight of the wheel down, which you notice in manual handling and when many wheels sit on the same rig. The wheel comes with double ball bearings that spread the load over two rows of balls and give an even, stable run even under load. The series takes loads up to 500 kg per wheel.
This family is supplied in the 200 mm diameter. That is a diameter which rolls fairly easily over thresholds and cable trays while it still gives a reasonable overall height. Since the wheel has no bracket, it is mounted straight onto an axle of your own through the hub, which suits fixed mountings and your own underframes.
Where does it fit? ElastoGum with an aluminum hub in this soft tread is a quiet indoor wheel for industry, warehouses and workshops. It often sits under transport carts, material carts and lighter machine underframes where noise level and floor protection weigh heavily. The soft tread makes it a good choice on painted concrete, epoxy and tile, and in premises where people move close to the transport routes.
Think about the operating environment. Rubber treads are happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp surroundings. The aluminum hub handles moisture without rusting, but the rubber itself should not be exposed to strong solvents or high temperatures. If the wheel stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for soft, elastic materials.
