Loose wheel in ElastoPUR with aluminum hub, 83 Shore A

Here is a loose wheel with a tread in ElastoPUR and a hub in aluminum, made for indoor transport where you want to combine a softer run with the wear strength and floor friendliness of polyurethane. The tread is a super elastic polyurethane with a hardness of 83 degrees Shore A. That is softer than the firmest polyurethane treads, which gives a more compliant feel and better damping, while the material keeps its resistance to abrasion.

Softer does not mean sluggish. ElastoPUR has a low rolling resistance in relation to its elasticity, so even at 83 Shore A the wheel gets going without unnecessary force. The slightly softer tread settles a little against the floor and catches vibration and shocks better than a harder version, which shows up as a calmer and quieter run. The price is a notch higher rolling resistance than with a really firm polyurethane, but for many transport jobs the softer run and the better grip are worth it. Compared with a hard nylon wheel, which rolls the easiest but makes more noise and can scratch sensitive floors, this wheel is kinder to both the goods and the floor. If you need the absolute lowest rolling resistance and the highest load, a firmer polyurethane is a better choice.

The hub in aluminum is stiff and light. It carries the load without giving way, resists corrosion and keeps the total weight down, which makes manual handling easier and keeps rigs light. The wheel has double ball bearings that spread the load over two rows of balls and give an even, stable run under load. The series takes loads up to 750 kg per wheel.

The diameters range from 80 to 250 mm. A larger diameter rolls more easily over thresholds, seams and cable trays and lowers the rolling resistance, while a smaller one keeps the overall height down where the space under a cart or a machine is tight. The wheel is supplied without a bracket and is mounted straight onto an axle of your own through the hub, which suits fixed fasteners and self-built underframes.

Where does it come into its own? ElastoPUR with an aluminum hub at 83 Shore A suits transport carts, assembly carts, adjustable tables and machine underframes indoors in industry, warehouses and workshops. The softer tread makes it a good choice where the goods are sensitive to shaking and where the floor has to be spared, for example on painted concrete, epoxy and tile. The polyurethane takes abrasion well and resists most oils, greases and mild chemicals in a workshop.

Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane is happy at normal indoor temperature and in dry to slightly damp surroundings, and the aluminum hub handles moisture without rusting. If the wheel stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can take a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while; that is normal for elastic materials and shows a little more clearly in a softer tread.
