MSF25 is an articulated machine foot where the base plate in glass fiber reinforced nylon (PA6 GF30) is combined with an adjusting screw in stainless steel. The joint allows up to 25 degrees of angle between screw and plate, so the foot makes contact across its full area even when the floor slopes or the frame is not quite square. The series is wide: four plate diameters at 60, 80, 100 and 120 mm, threads from M8 to M24 and screw lengths from 25 to 250 mm give a good seventy versions to choose from.

A machine standing out of level loads its frame wrongly, vibrates more and wears on both bearings and the patience of the operator. With leveling feet you adjust each corner individually until the frame stands flat; the articulated design lets the plate follow the floor instead of resting on one edge. Resting on an edge is exactly the common weakness of rigid feet on uneven industrial floors. Four feet that each carry their share of the load also give the machine a calmer run and less noise out into the building.

The screw has wrench flats, so the foot can be adjusted with an ordinary wrench without you having to reach in and turn the plate; handy when the machine is already in place and the space is tight. The wrench sizes follow the thread size, from 14 mm on M8 up to 24 mm on M24. At the bottom sits a rubber covered sliding surface that damps vibration and reduces the risk of the machine wandering on the floor during operation. The rubber also spares the floor surface under heavy frames.

PA6 with 30 percent glass fiber is stiffer and holds its shape better under load than unfilled nylon, and creep, that is the slow settling under constant load, is considerably lower. The base plate therefore keeps its shape under the weight of the machine year after year. The stainless screw makes the foot usable where zinc plated parts eventually give up: wash areas, food production and equipment that is hosed down at cleaning. The combination takes detergents and moisture without rusting or swelling, and the height of the plate is 18 mm whatever the diameter.

You choose the plate diameter to match the load and the ground; a larger plate spreads the pressure over more floor area. The thread has to match the threaded hole or welded-in nut in the frame, and the screw length decides the adjustment range. Allow enough length to handle the real differences in floor level, but avoid a needlessly long screw; it should be engaged with good margin even at maximum extension. Load data per version is in the manufacturer's data sheet.

Typical places are packaging machines, conveyors, mixers, work benches and machine frames in contract manufacturing, as well as special machines built as one-offs. Designers like to draw the same series of feet into the whole machine shop; with four diameters and six thread sizes in one and the same family, MSF25 goes a long way without you having to mix makes. On long machine lines it is also practical that all the feet share the same spare part logic.

The 25 degrees handle more than most floors will ever ask for; even ramps and deliberately sloping foundations are normally well under that. The angle also makes assembly forgiving when the threaded holes in the frame have not ended up exactly square to the floor, something that happens even in well built designs. Just check that nothing in the frame limits the movement before you use the full angle.
