Sheet in PTFE GR25 1200x1200x10 mm natural
PTFE GR25 is a PTFE with 25 percent graphite mixed in. The fill grade is higher than in GR15, which makes the material stiffer, lets it take more pressure over time and wear less. In sheet format it suits you when you are milling out loaded sliding surfaces, gaskets or machine parts.
PTFE as a base material is the flagship of the fluoroplastics on inertness. The whole pH scale, solvents, oxidizers, process gases. Few polymers match its breadth of chemical resistance. Fire class V0, temperature range from about -200 to +260 degrees, no melting point during machining but a glassy transition.
What the graphite contributes: better heat conduction, higher compressive strength, less creep under load and better dimensional stability at varying temperature. Pure PTFE has a tendency to "flow" slowly under continuous pressure. GR25 reduces that substantially and therefore suits parts that have to hold their geometry over a long time.
Friction stays very low; the graphite lubricates dry and is gentle on the mating surface. Non-stick surface, which means most adhesives, process liquids and contaminants do not stick.
Density is about 2.2 to 2.25 g/cm3.
Typical uses for sheets in PTFE GR25:
loaded slide plates in industrial doors and heavy conveyors
gasket material in chemical pumps, valves and flanges
wear surfaces in pallet handling equipment where the load is high
insulating and support elements around hot pipe runs
shims where both chemistry and pressure matter
Machining. PTFE GR25 is turned, milled, drilled and planed with standard tools, preferably carbide. The graphite is gentle on the cutting edge, far kinder than glass filled grades. The chip is typical PTFE: stringy and continuous. On larger runs the clamping matters, because the material is soft and can give way under cutting pressure. Bonding does not work straight off, a mechanical fastener is the standard solution.
The choice between GR15, GR25 and pure PTFE is governed by pressure and creep. Low pressure, plain sealing, short time: pure PTFE is enough. Moderate pressure, dimensional stability over time: GR15. High load, long operation, stability in dimensions: GR25. If you need sliding properties combined with stiffness, there are combination fills to look at.
The sheets are cut to your dimensions. Standard dimensions in the range, customer specific formats on request.
The thin sheet at 1200x1200x10 mm in natural has a high graphite content and suits sliding surfaces that have to run completely dry.
