Sheet in PEEK LF Nano 2000x500x30 mm black
Sheet in PEEK LF Nano is a high performance thermoplastic made in a grade where the sliding properties are optimized with additives on the nanometer scale. The result is low friction and high wear resistance without giving up the basic mechanical profile of PEEK. The material handles 260 degrees continuously and up to 300 degrees for short periods.
In mechanical figures that means a tensile strength of around 106 MPa to ISO 527, a ball indentation hardness of 253 MPa and impact strength around 58 kJ per square meter. Thermal conductivity is 0.46 W/mK, higher than unfilled PEEK, which carries frictional heat away from the sliding surface. Water absorption of 0.03 percent means the material takes up practically no moisture and holds its dimensions through temperature and humidity cycles.
Chemical resistance is PEEK standard. The material takes fuels, hydraulic fluids, process chemicals and most solvents, and handles sterilization with steam, autoclave and gamma radiation. Fire rating V0 to UL 94 makes the sheet usable in rail traffic, aviation, defense and offshore, where the fire requirements rule out most engineering plastics.
The sheet is the first choice when you build slide plates, guide rails, wear surfaces in conveyors or sealing rings in continuous operation. The nano filler gives a lower coefficient of friction and less wear than unfilled PEEK, while surface finish and dimensional stability are kept. It is also used in pump parts, compressor rings, piston rings and back-up rings for seals, often in applications where lubricants are forbidden or unsuitable.
Machining is done with sharp carbide tools, conservative feeds and good chip evacuation. PEEK takes dry machining, but cooling extends tool life and holds better tolerances. Drilling, milling and turning all work well. Bonding with epoxy after primer or plasma activation holds, but mechanical fastening is the most common solution in engineering designs. The sheet can be welded with hot gas or ultrasound when the design calls for a joint.
In the choice between LF Nano and ordinary PEEK, the application decides. If friction and wear are critical, you pick LF Nano. If the requirement is only high temperature and broad chemical resistance, unfilled PEEK is enough and costs less. If you also need ESD properties, carbon fiber filled PEEK is a better choice.
With 30 mm of stock in 2000 x 500 mm, the black LF Nano sheet gives depth for turned conductive parts, where the conductivity comes from nano sized carbon fiber tubes.
The sheets are supplied in standard formats and are cut to the size you want in our cutting department. Send over the dimensions and we will come back with what can be delivered. Not sure which PEEK grade fits? Get in touch and describe the application, and we will help with the choice.
