Fixed bracket with aluminum hub and PUR tread, mounted with top plate, 400 kg
Caster in a fixed bracket with PUR tread and aluminum hub
This is a caster in a fixed bracket with a running surface in PUR and a hub in aluminum, made for heavier transport that has to roll straight and safely. The tread is a cast polyurethane with a hardness of 93 degrees Shore A, a firm but not rock-hard surface. The fixed bracket locks the direction of travel, so the wheel holds its course and suits the guiding or carrying position under a cart rather than the swiveling one.
The combination of firm PUR and a stiff aluminum hub is what raises the load capacity. The polyurethane carries the load and takes up some of the unevenness in the floor, while the hub gives the body the stiffness needed to hold its shape even when the weight is high. Together the series handles up to 150 kg per wheel, which is a lot for a diameter of 80 mm. PUR takes wear well and stands up to oil, grease and mild chemicals, so the wheel lasts in a workshop environment.
Something about starting and rolling resistance. A firm polyurethane compresses only slightly under load and springs back quickly, which keeps rolling resistance low even when the cart is heavily loaded. The wheel gets going without anyone having to strain, and you notice it with many starts and stops. Compared with a softer elastic wheel you get less shock absorption but steadier and easier running; compared with a hard plastic wheel you get more protection for the floor and quieter travel. For heavy carts on an even floor that is a good trade-off.
The aluminum hub is light and stiff at the same time and resists corrosion better than steel. That makes the wheel suitable even in rooms with moisture and cleaning. Inside the hub sit double ball bearings that spread the load over two rows of balls. That gives even and stable running under heavy load and keeps rolling resistance down, which is exactly what you want when the weight is high and the wheel rolls a lot.
The wheel has a diameter of 80 mm and carries up to 150 kg. That diameter is a middle ground that rolls smoothly over joints and smaller unevenness without building unnecessarily high under the cart. The bracket is mounted with a top plate, a square mounting plate with four screw holes, which gives a firm fastening against a flat underframe and spreads the forces evenly.
Where does it fit? A fixed caster in PUR with an aluminum hub often sits under heavier transport carts, machine underframes, tool carts and material carts that are pushed straight ahead and steered by swivel casters at the other end. It is a work caster for workshop, warehouse and industry where the load is high and the floor is even. The straight running makes it easy to keep a heavy cart on track.
Think about the operating environment. Polyurethane and aluminum work well indoors in dry to slightly damp environments and at normal room temperature. The fixed caster is not built for swiveling, so pair it with swivel casters when the cart has to be maneuvered. If the wheel stands still for a long time under full load, the tread can pick up a temporary flat spot that rolls out after a while, which is normal for polyurethane.
