2-pack, swivel caster 100 mm, plate 105x85 mm, white PA6
A pair of swivel casters with tread and hub in polyamide (PA6), intended for the underframe of box conveyors, conveyor sections and material carts in warehouses and production. The casters have a mounting plate, ball bearings and a total lock brake; with four of them under a conveyor frame you get a movable conveyor section that can be rolled aside for cleaning or repositioned when the flow in the building changes. The pack contains two casters.
The wheel diameter is 100 mm and the tread width 36 mm. The overall height is 132 mm, that is the dimension from the floor to the top of the plate, and that is the figure you use when the frame height is to be decided. The plate measures 105x85 mm with a hole spacing of 80x60 mm; the holes are slotted, 12.5x9 mm, which gives room to move if the hole pattern in the frame is not right to the millimeter. The offset is 41 mm and the swing radius 129 mm, so leave at least that much free space around each caster position for the fork to be able to swing a full turn without hitting legs or beams. The bracket is made in 2.5 mm sheet.
The manufacturer states the dynamic load capacity as 200 kg at 4 km/h. The figure applies to a rolling load at walking speed. A proven rule of thumb for four wheeled underframes is still to size as if three casters carry the whole load, since industrial floors are seldom completely level and one caster can therefore lack floor contact in certain positions.
Polyamide in both tread and hub gives a wheel that takes knocks, edges and thresholds without being deformed, and that leaves no marks behind on the floor. The tread hardness is 75° Shore D; that is a hard tread with low rolling resistance, and a loaded frame becomes noticeably easier to move than with soft wheels. The other side of it is more structure borne noise on uneven concrete floors. If the noise level matters in your building there are equivalent casters with a gray polyurethane tread that roll more quietly.
The temperature range runs from minus 30 °C to plus 70 °C, so the casters work in chilled and frozen warehouses as well. PA6 takes water, cleaning agents and the oils normally found on a workshop floor, and the casters can be hosed down without the tread being harmed. The ball bearings make them suited to daily movement, not just the occasional repositioning.
The total lock brake locks the rotation of the wheel and the swivel movement of the fork in the same movement. That is a more important detail than it sounds under conveyors in particular: a simple wheel brake stops the rolling but lets the fork twist, and then a section can still lurch when boxes are braked against an end stop. With a total lock brake on at least two diagonally placed casters the section stands still during work.
Typical uses are movable box conveyor sections at packing tables, temporary gravity conveyors during seasonal peaks, repacking carts between stations and work tables that need to be rolled up to the line. In all of these it is the combination of an easy rolling tread and a reliable brake that decides whether the solution works in everyday life, and that is exactly the combination a ball bearing caster with a total lock brake delivers.
When fitting you bolt the plate down with four screws matched to the slotted holes and check that all the casters have floor contact before the frame is loaded. The net weight of the 2-pack is 3.07 kg; full dimensions and a drawing are in the manufacturer's data sheet.
