ECTFE GB is a modified grade of the fluoropolymer ECTFE, adapted for process environments with particular demands beyond plain chemical resistance. The base material is a copolymer of ethylene with bound chlorine and fluorine, which stands up to strong acids, bases, solvents and oxidizing agents and keeps its properties across a wide temperature span. The density is around 1.68 g/cm³. The GB grade is a deliberate choice for a defined job, not an all-round sheet you reach for first.

The central point is the chemical resistance. ECTFE GB is barely affected by media that break down or discolor ordinary construction plastics. The material takes up practically no moisture, which keeps it dimensionally stable even in wet and damp positions, and it takes UV and weather. The additive in the GB grade adjusts the properties of the material for installations where a standard ECTFE does not go all the way. You pick GB when the job calls for something beyond plain chemical resistance, and then it matters that the grade matches what the process actually puts the material through.

In sheet form ECTFE GB is used as lining and cladding in tanks, vats and troughs with aggressive contents, and as guard screens and dividers in surface treatment plants. It works as a barrier between a load-bearing substrate and a medium that would otherwise attack the structure. The material belongs in the chemical, surface treatment and process industries where chemical resistance is combined with the extra demands the GB grade answers to. Where an ordinary plastic would break down, discolor or crumble, ECTFE holds its shape and function over time, and that is often the difference between a lining that lasts and one that has to be replaced early with stoppages and costs to follow.

The sheet can be cut, drilled and machined, and it can be welded into tight linings, preferably with a matching welding rod so the joint keeps the chemical resistance. As a fluoropolymer it differs from everyday plastics in handling, and welding should be done by someone used to the material, with the right temperature and technique. Clean and prepare the surfaces carefully before joining, and try the parameters on offcuts if you are unsure. A cold joint leaks and an overheated one turns brittle, so you have to stay inside the right window.

The thickness governs both the protection and how the sheet shapes itself against the substrate during welding. Thicker material takes more abrasion and mechanical load, thinner follows shapes more easily and is simpler to join against complex surfaces. Think through the fastening and the placing of the joints before you order, and store the sheets flat and dry. We cut the material to your dimensions. If you are unsure whether the GB grade is needed or whether standard ECTFE is enough for your application, get in touch and we will go through the conditions together before you commit to a grade.

Within the fluoropolymer family ECTFE is one of the mechanically tougher materials, and the GB grade keeps that base while the additive adapts the material for a defined job. That is why the grade should be chosen deliberately and not picked out of habit: it answers a specific requirement the standard version does not cover, and a wrong choice is expensive to put right in a finished installation. Check the requirements against what the process actually puts the material through before you settle on a grade.

When fitting, you clad the sheet against a load-bearing substrate of steel or a cheaper plastic, and weld the joints into a tight cladding. The substrate has to be clean and stable, and the lining completely free of holes and poor joints, because otherwise the medium gets in behind the layer and attacks the structure from below where you cannot see it.

Plan the joints so they end up where you can reach to inspect and repair them, and support the lining where it is needed. Store the sheets flat and dry until fitting. A cladding with the right grade and tight joints lasts for years, while a wrongly chosen grade or a leaking joint gives you trouble that only shows once the plant is running and is expensive to get at. We cut the material to your dimensions.

The thin 1500x1500x0.8 mm sheet lets itself be formed against rounded surfaces, and the glass fiber on the back gives grip when lining.
