Furniture foot TF10 53 mm, matte black
TF10 is a trumpet foot in nylon PA6 with a threaded mount in zinc plated steel. The name comes from the shape: the foot flares gently from 18 mm at the top to 53 mm at the floor, like the bell of a trumpet. The height is 51 mm and the threaded stud is M10 with a length of 25 mm, which makes it a finished, styled foot for benches, tables and cabinet bodies with a threaded mount. The matte black surface works under wood, laminate and painted bodies.
The shape is more than looks. The wide 53 mm base spreads the load over a good area of floor, which reduces the pressure on delicate floors and gives the furniture steady contact; at the same time the narrow top makes the foot look light under the furniture instead of reading as a block. The trumpet shape also hides the mount completely, so no screw or nut is visible from the side. The height is at the same time enough to hide smaller irregularities in the floor without the furniture looking propped up.
Fitting is straightforward: the threaded stud is screwed into a threaded insert, a welded-in nut or a nut plate in the body of the furniture. The 25 mm thread length gives room to screw the foot in to different depths if the body needs a little leveling; the exact design of the stud and the seating is shown in the manufacturer's data sheet, so you can draw the foot in before you decide.
The combination of plastic and steel is well thought out. The PA6 body takes knocks, cleaning machines and vacuum cleaner nozzles without chipping, and it cannot rust; the steel thread takes the tensile and shear loads in the mount, and the zinc plating gives basic protection against corrosion in normal indoor conditions. The matte black surface keeps its look for a long time, since small scratches barely show, unlike on shiny metal feet.
Weight is a factor as well. A plastic body makes the foot easy to handle when assembling large bodies, and it does not ring against the floor if the furniture is moved; in terms of sound it behaves like a piece of furniture, not like a machine part.
At 51 mm the foot lifts the furniture enough for mops and cleaning machines to get underneath, a requirement in many public spaces and commercial kitchens, where no water is left standing either since the smooth plastic body dries quickly. Typical users are joinery shops and furniture makers who build fitted benches, reception counters, storage bodies and work tables; the foot is also a common choice in refurbishment, when older plinth furniture is to be raised onto legs so it can be cleaned under. Equipment frames and technical cabinets with an M10 mount use it too when appearance matters.
Count on four feet per body and put the mounting points near the corners, where the load is greatest; that also gives the best stability against rocking. If you need to judge the load per foot, dimensions and material data are in the data sheet; for really heavy bodies it is wise to check with us before you decide.
Compared with adjusting screws and hidden leveling feet, the trumpet foot is a visible design choice; it is meant to show, and it does so neatly. If you would rather have completely hidden leveling under a plinth, there are leveling feet in the range that solve that instead. The two ways can be combined in the same building, by the way: visible trumpet feet on what the customer sees, simpler leveling feet where nobody looks.
