    PI, that is polyimide, is the most heat resistant plastic we sell, and the black grade is a good value choice when the color does not matter.

    Polyimide is amorphous and therefore has no melting point. The black grade is dimensionally stable up to 352 degrees and has a tensile strength of 128 MPa. It matches fire rating UL 94 V-0 and therefore does not burn.

    The weakness is moisture and hydrolysis: the material takes up water and does not stand hot water and steam in the long run. Dry and hot is its home ground instead, in plain bearings, seals and insulators that run hot.

    The rod in PI is 1000 mm in black and works as raw stock for bushings, seals and guides in hot environments.
